m1100 t a positive review

After reading all the negative things about these sleds I figured I should give my short review. I like the sled it pulls hard and handles good. For a stock sled the power is great. It does handle different than the m's but you just have to get used to it. I can take this sled anywhere I did my M. Is it heavier when you get stuck, yes. And you do notice the weight some when riding but just have to learn to ride it. Everything has been great on it the only problem I had was the elbow coming out the end of the air filter. So overall I couldnt be happier with the sled and just wanted to put something positive on here after reading all the threads about how terrible thes sleds are. Dont believe them cause they are a good machine. I've got about 400 miles on it:face-icon-small-coo

good write. It seems the only complaint (besides the issues) is the weight but most complaining about it are coming off a 2 stroke. I wounder what a person coming off a 4 stroke thinks of it?

I my self just come off of a xp 800 but have owned 2 yamaha four strokes prior one being a vector mountain and other an apex. Still have the apex( dads sled) First day out on the 1100t was very impressed rolled over really nice and had now problem holding a sidehill, can't beat the stock turbo power either. Standing on the sled it is similar to my xp but not quite the same but really fits me well. Just to through something out there I never was a fan of the m series but still nice sleds just not for me which is why I was on an 800xp. In all the 1100t is lighter feeling and a lot more nimble then the apex. I feel like I can ride the 1100t in any situation I had my 800xp in, apex on the other hand i didn't have that confidence. Really can't go wrong with the cats 1100t I'm happy with it.

glad to hear your review i don't think it gets much better seeing you have had the apex and the xp800....
how much do you weigh ?

To me the weight is not really noticeable until I am stuck. Side hilling is a little more difficult than the M's but am get used to it. I think it is going to get some slydog skis to help it float a little more. I also like the sound of the machine its nice to be on a quiet one dont even hear it run beside the 2 strokes.

Tested the Slydog 8" skis this afternoon in fresh powder. VERY GOOD! Made some clutching adjustments, but the skis made a really big difference and the diving was greatly reduced as well as darting in the rough stuff. You can come down hill through the big holes and cross tracks with no problem.

Eric can you elaborate on the clutching please?

Using some more aggressive and heavier weights. Also tried a few different springs in the primary and some different Carlisle belts.

I will do a report on it in a day or so and will have clutch kits ready next week.

You guys won't like this, but the sled it reminds me of the most is the Nytro. I have spent the majority of the past 2 years on M8 and M1000s, both NA and turbo and love them. I am coming to grips with the different handling of the ProClimb and like it a lot. You have to learn a lot of throttle control with the M1100T because it will do more at half throttle than most sleds wide open. It is heavy, but doesn't handle much heavier than an M1000.

It is a bit tough to manhandle in the trees, but the power offset lets you choose lines that you would not make on other sleds. Lines like slowing down as you come around a tree to almost a standstill and then tractor back up to 50mph track speed.

I agree that it does take a different throttle control than a 2 stroker, its not worse its different. When on a 2 stoke there are 2 throttle positions open and closed. This you can make a lot at half throttle and its better to stay on it a little to keep the turbo turning when you hit it again its all there. Bottom end throttle response is different than a 2 stroke but there is power at lower rpms. For a stock sled I dont think you will find a better climbing sled as far as power goes. That is one reason I like it so much I can climb with modded sleds and have done nothing to this.

It has pull not snap. It is deceptively smooth.

For instance a rutted out powder hill that your are crossing over tracks, skis in the air and trying to hold a line on an M800 you are full out bouncing around and get it done. On the M1100T you almost feel lazy as you rip up the hill at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and bust through the same stuff.

Its good, all good.
