m1000 y pipe and can

y pipe and can

just bought a 08 m1000 and 2 dealers told me i would be alright and i ride 2400ft and ride mountains also. i have them both on and running fine.

I have an 07 M1000 with just a Y pipe and can. Burned it down twice.

Would have been ok if the fuel pressure was at the upper end of the hugh AC spec.

So in my opinion, you need to know what fuel pressure you are running. If you are anything less then 47 I would add an adjustable regulator and run it around 49-50. Keep rasing it until it just runs crappy then cut it back a bit to clean it up. Otherwise you could burn it down. If the stock regulator is pushing the min 42 psi from cat.

im not all that sure on it. i have a can. and i wanna do the y pipe. and i heard its all good as long as u dont change ur airbox. but once u change ur stock airbox. u have to set ur self up with some sort of a fuel pressure regulator?? if anyone knows diff. let me know.

If you do it, you still need to do your tuning. Pull plugs ect.... with the right fueling and clutching there is more power to be had then just bolting it on. Most all I've seen would be fine in a 12 sec. wot pull ( which is longer than it seems) after that the exhaust temp will continue to climb and could be destructive.

the ypipe and can i am getting are both d&d . so if i just get a fuel pressure regulater and get i tuned in i should not have any problems. what would be a good starting point to start at ? my elevation is aroud 1500 ft but i plan on getting out west a couple times this year . so once i get the fuel pressure dialed in i will i have to re adjust for out west yellowstone

51-53psi should do it. the best way to do it is to get egts, check them with your plugs and then add or remove fuel as needed. Or get egts and run them stock then check with plugs and piston wash. I will never go without a instant tuning device just makes it accurate and fast.
