m1000 vs. turbo apex

I currently ride a m1000 and I like it, however its killing me to know what its like to play in the big leagues, my biggest issue is how do they handle? I love climbing but also enjoy playing in the trees. I need some honest feedback from apex riders please, before I try to explain to my wife why I need spend 20000 and require 300 hp. thanks in advance

Nytro!!!!

Have you considered the Nytro? I have one that's mostly stock & have ridden the MCX Nytro's this year. They rip & can hang with ANYTHING in the trees & climbing. They handle much easier than most (if not all) sleds out there imo. Don't over look the "little" Nytro. It handles like a lighter sled & you have the reliability of the Yamaha's!!!

as for your questions about the Apex.......... I have a riding bud that really wants to get onto a T-Nytro after spending a cpl yrs on his 310 T-Apex. the Nytro's will have less HP, but handle better & weigh less( i think about 80lbs less)

Well if you like the way your M handles etc., but want the power, turbo your M! If you switch to a turbo 4 stroke I can tell you that you will have to get used to the front end weight, but you will learn to use the power to counter that. Good luck!

Ride one. That is the best advise I could give. I had the opportunity to ride an M1000 with a turbo a few weeks ago. It was running 10lbs. of boost. My Tapex was running 12lbs. I was surprised to say the least at the difference in the sleds.

BTW, I would not trade my Tapex for one. ;)

I ride an Apex turbo on 12lbs. of boost. I have had it in some tight nasty situations. I love the handling. I loved the handling with the stock suspension and I love it even more with the timbersled suspension. I have rode the Nytro stock, super charged, and turbo. All three I didn't like the handling. But that is rider preference. My Apex in the trees all I have to do is keep both feet in the foot wells and lean the direction that I want to go. If you want to get creative then start stepping accross from foot well to foot well for even more responsive handling.

Good luck deciding and convincing the wife.

hey im currently riding a 2007 M8 with full slp power kit so i am close to the stock m 1000. This is just my opinion. The transition from the m to the apex is so much easier then the nytro i find tht the nytro is more of a point and commit sled (which is fine if tht is what u want) but i find the boosted apex's easier to handle and way more fun to ride. last weekend i rode with 2 boosted apex's, 1 stock apex and 2 boosted nytros. One of those being johnboy's. i have rode it before he did the suspension and after either way it hanldles like a dream. the nytro is more REV feeling. guys on here told me tht before i tried a nytro and i did not think it would be true but i know they were right gotta love the apex. it is ur decision. but i know a certain someone is going to have to build another new apex next year cause tht white and blue 40th anniversery edition. You know who u are if u read this.:beer;;):D

Eek,
I just went from an 04 King Cat to a '08 TApex with just 12 lbs boost which will hopefully be reliable it is absolutely amazing! The M1000 is a good sled and performs well but the TApex is head and shoulders above it in power and the handling is great from my perspective. I had no problems riding it in the trees as it carves really well. Both my friends who rode it were amazed at how easy it was for a heavier sled and even suggested it pulled over easier than their Revs. The TApex turns into a Fast and the Furious video clip on the top half of the throttle so hang on tight! You won't be disappointed.

are you saying that the big M doesn't have front end weight???? hmmmmm............ i bet it's as heavy, if not heavier than my Nytro!!!!

I respectfully disagree. Side by side, the Tapex "feels" much lighter in the front than the Turbo M1000, in my 02.

I have to agree with SSwim as well and t-bone

A turboed Nytro feels way lighter in the front than ANY 2 stroker i have rode. It may be heavier on a scale, but when you put the power to the ground it all goes away.:beer;
And i'm sure the Tapex is the same way.:D

I have ridden them all. Currently have two TM7s and a T Nytro and will likely build a TM1000. I would recommend you have Product Tester Turbo your M1000. The power is definately there to hang with the big sleds except on the longest of pulls and your investment will be somewhat limited (around 7k) as compared to dropping the big coin on an Apex. If you don't like it get a use T Apex to try. I personally like the Nytro a lot more than the Apex but the Apex is proven and my Nytro is still a work in progress.

I've now owned all three sleds mentioned. I am curretnly riding a Nytro. I am going to disagree with some of the posts on here. I will be going back to an Apex. IMO the Apex handles better and boondocks better. I thought I could make the switch and be happy, but after riding the Nytro for 3 months I still want the T-Apex HP and handleing. The T-M1000 is fun to ride. If your not use to big HP it will keep you smilin.

All things being equal (IE: set up, lbs of boost etc etc) a boosted Nytro will be equal to or faster than a boosted Apex. Throw me all the stock hp's, dyno #'s, your grandma told me this and that, but in the real world it's a fact jack.:D

Tough choice, i've owned both and loved both. Apex isnt for everyone, neither is a Nytro. I'd spend at least half a day on each to decide. LOL, ive spent 2 yrs on Apex and a year on the Nytro and still cant decide which i like better.
