m1000 secondary spring

Is the secondary spring suppose to be tight in the helix or should it turn freely? 2007 m1000 stock clutch.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. With the helix out and on the bench, does the spring slide into the helix freely or do you have to push it in?

not sure what your getting at, if your assembling it the helix should turn on the plastic bushings( helps if you put in a d&d shift assist) but you have to compress the spring to get the helix into the clutch to start the bolts. once assembled the spring should spin but with the preload it may be hard to turn.

If I take my clutch apart the spring is stuck in the helix. I have to pull to get the spring out of the helix. I'm not trying to put it back together. I just think it is wrong that I have to force the spring into the helix to get it to touch the plastic washers. I think my spring is a bigger diameter than it use to be so I ordered a new one.
