M1000 primary clutch problems

well just this last weekend i took my thousand out for the day.. i was ridin the trails just to get to the goods and i get off in the powder and my sled bogs like a mother.. i was just thinkin cuz.. well i was low on oil. and filled it more than 3/4 full but was gonna need a full tank.. so i just said muck it. ill throw some full synthetic in my sled. dont know if i was gonna foul some plugs or not cuz i run the apv. so i stop as my sled is stopin itself and try to give her a tug to start it back up. and pulled and nothin. it was stuck in just like as if the motor was seized.. got scared.. pulled off my clutch cover and the panel and found out that my primary clutch was stuck open and engaged. so i pulled off the belt. started my engine and it was all good. but now i have a problem. i was able to push down the cam arm and i noticed a crack.. so i spun the whole primary around and check under each cam. the part was cracked and im assuming thats why my clutch was stuck. soooo. what part is that? where can i get it? i have stock everything except for a can. and im lookin just to keep it stock and ride the rest of the year.. then dump it next year and get me a 2010 M8.

i just wanna ride this weekend and need some info.. thanks guys!

Is this the four post? They came on the 07 m1000. They've be discontinued because of this. Supreme tool makes a new spider for it. Might be better just to get the newer 3 post.

Don't take this wrong. But if you aren't real sure what you are looking at, IE spider, or whatever.

Just get a new three arm clutch and put it on.

You have to have some special tools and some basic clutch knowledge to inspect and rebuild the primary.

well my dad and brothers have the tools i havent spoken with them yet tho.. i wanted to get people who know their stuff to give me input. but yeah im thinkin the 3 tower.. cuz i do have that four tower clutch. pos. but dang man.. where did u pick up a new clutch for 200??? ahhh. i just dont have tons of money to spend.. i might have to sit this next week out. maybe ride my sisters sled. an m6 lol. :face-icon-small-ton if i do the three tower... do i just bolt it on?? or am i gonna have to worry bout certain factors? (weights) or does it just come the way it is for the thousand?

You can reuse your spring if you want. But you will need new weights. When going from the four you will need heavier weights with just three. Is your sled stock? If so post your riding elevation and I would bet we can tell you what weights to order with your new clutch. You will also need a clutch puller. Otherwise pretty straight forward.

I just picked up a three arm clutch shipped to my door for $235. So do a little digging around and you can find one.

You might call Michelle at Oregon Trail Sports. She is always good to work with. IMO Or send her a PM (Freeagent)
