M1000 pistons????

Hey guys, I have a question about M1000 pistons. I’m picking up a 07 m1000 that needs a new top end. I have all ways liked running OME pistons in engines but I have had guys tell me they have had very good luck with some of the Very cheap non OEM pistons out there. And I have seen good things 1st hand. Like a 600 IQr turning over 9,000 RPMs on NOS. So what do you guys think of those cheap pistons out there?
And having a 07 M1000 engine if 09 or 10 pistons should or could be used?

We sell/use humdreds of SPI coated pistons and have never had a failure. Although I don't remember selling any for the 1000 so I can't really say about them. I haven't heard any problems with the stockers either. I know this isn't much help.:o

I picked up a set of OEM pistons for $95 a set shipping included. I don't think it gets much cheaper than that.

SPI is good and I've used them before without issue, can't be to much much less. I was thinking about using them but I needed pistons in a turbo application.

I can get you the number where I got the OEM pistons if you want.....let me know.

PM "freeagent" on here. She will hook you up with an awesome price on an OEM top end kit. If you want to call her just search her user name and find one of her posts. Her number is in her signature.

I would go oem. The 1000's have enough trouble with piston expansion without going to forged pistons. They work good if you have enough piston/cylinder clearance, but they can get tight real quick.
