M1000 doesn't run well with aftermarket muffler

I have an 08' m1000 that is stock. I just installed an aftermarket muffler. It starts and idles fine but loads up in the midrange and bogs out. If you blip the throttle 5-10 times it will clear up for a bit and then do it again. The muffler is speedwerx can. With an infrared temp gauage the y-pipe only reads 500-600f. I believe it should be around 800. I was told that its a bolt on item.

I have a BMP (bikeman) Powder Lite on my 07' and I dont have that problem, Also have heard that D&D doesn't cause that either. I have been hearing of some problems just recently with speedwerx cans.

I'm a believer in Speedwerx parts and technology but, my 07 M1000 didn't seem to like the Speedwerx can either. I took it off and installed an Ultra Q and it runs great!

The sled has all the updates including the reflash. I even tried a different ECU. I work at a shop and we messed around with it for 2 hours and have come to no conclusions. It runs fine with the stock muffler. Very frustrating

Arctic cat is more interested in surviving as a company and not worried about bunch second graders making noise with their aftermarket cans. Arctic cat makes a tuned exhaust not a tuned pipe.

Well excuse me! This ain't my first rodeo. However it is my first Cat and I've been less than impressed with it. The reason I got a can was because we ride alot of trees and the guys I ride with were complaining they couldn't hear me to know where I was.

There isn't enough back pressure and the pipe can't keep enough heat in if the exaust is too free flowing. I had the same problem with my 09 m1000. I put on a mbrp can and it would fall on its face in the mid range. If you could get it past the stutter it would pull hard again but most times it wouldn't clean out.

my 08 hated the SPwerx can....bog in the bottom, not enuff back-pressure imo....horrible fit....ditched it. Running a snowskinz q-can now. Luv it. very consistant., imo.

speedwerx can

I have a speedwerx can on my 2009 m1000. It is the one that dumps out the shock tower, and it works great. I rode it to out in Revelstoke and could not me more happy with how the sled preformed. I also had this sled on an 2007 m1000, and it did not seem to hurt the preformance of that sled either. My 2009 has great power for a stock sled.
