M1000 Boondocker #s master list

How about we get a post going for the m1000 to help share boondocker numbers in one place. It may be out there but I havent seen it.

Sled-07 M100

Elevation- 6-10k & 1-3k(av gas at this elevation)

Mods-DD twins, +2 timing key, egts. First ride was today with them.

How does it run-
Havent rode in mountains but down in valley 1500ft (100octane fuel) pulls hard on top egts about 1100F, could prolly go down a little on the octane but like to be safe. Have a mid range bod that hasnt been pinpointed.
 
I would say the 37 on the top was pretty close as well as the 17 at 7250rpm. I made 2 or 3 1/4 mile runs and got my egt's up to 1100. I did not check plugs or piston wash yet because the twins are a mother #$%&#$ to get in and out. The sled is setup to run from 7-10k ft on pump gas so I burn av gas when down low. I dont know that i need that much octane, but I like to be safe. I was going to get the slp single setup but found these ceramic coated DD twins, boondocker box, and koso egts with fast probes for $500 bucks on ebay. Cant beat that. With porting, reeds, and head D&D says i should be able to stay on pump gas above 7k ft and should be around 225hp. I will do the trail port myself and all installations, so for around $900 bucks I will go from 167hp to 225ish hp. Tuning is going to be a chore I think. There arnt many setups like this around so not a lot of numbers to compare. I will get an A/F gauge to help and get a reading on my plugs and piston wash to get an idea about my egt's. Paid 6K for the sled last year so for around 7k will have a mean setup.

easy way to check wash is to pull out valves works awsome i also have this mid range bog on my sigle pipe d&d set but it was very warm +1 today so tomo i will try it and tune at -10 they r calling for but i will get my numbers and post tomo my ets r running 1020-1170 i would also like to try some 100 octane fuel
 
I have spent the past couple days on the phone with DD, bikeman, and cutler and i think i am going to eliminate my exhaust valves. The problem with the power valves and the boondocker box is that the rpm at which they open varies depending on load, temperature, and elevation. When the rpm of when they open is changing you CAN NOT have a fuel map the is always correct. This is why many people do not run twins. There will always be constant tuning. Boondocker has a method of using the nos side of the box to add fuel based on the position of the exhaust valve. This seems interesting to me, but after reading about the eliminator kit I think that is the way I am going to go. It will reduce milage and reduce torque from the low end up to 5500 rpm but will increase the torque and power in the 6k range. 6k power is more important to me. I dont ride that many miles on the trail so i dont care about the mileage.

I talked to a guy at D&D and he gave me a good tuning idea. Get the NOS button from Boondocker and you can set it up so you add fuel when the button is pushed. You can be at any rpm and load and hit the button and if it bogs a little you know you are close. If it bogs bad you are rich. If it runs better you are lean. I thought it was clever.

What elevation is the guy running the 92 octane on the 1000 with twins?
 
the whole push the nos button thing sounds complicated, but interesting! I run 92 octane, with a speedwerx single and cpc head, i also noticed that you have another setting in between 5000 and 6500, i don't think my box does, but i could be wrong. keep us posted:face-icon-small-coo
 
I used the instructions to setup the TPS mode in the NOS part of the boondocker to add fuel just before the power valves open. IT ELIMINATED MY 6k BOG ENTIRELY! I was impressed. I set it up to add 6 fuel at 5800rpm. I did have a problem a few time where the sled would load out and not get past 7300. I was going to dial it out but my box locked up with a ERROR:low NO2 pressure. Couldnt get rid of it until i moved the exhaust vavle servo???? It is not suppose to do this in the FIX NOS pressure mode. I will call boondocker tomorrow. Anyway the sled ran great. Finally felt like the 205hp D&D claims.

  • this is on my 09 m1000 with extra frogskins on intake and full d&d ceramic single pipe kit works great pulls stupid hard,single egt running 1000-1150,on prem fuel at 1500-2000 feet,when warmer outside i had too bump up the mid and high 6200 rpm+ was over comp would cause bog but only took 2 sec then back ripn all day with no bogs was +2 at 2000 feet but those numbers work great at -5 to -20 were i also added a number for below -20 so i have a map for that works for both gettn used to this tunning and dont mind it,it is worth the few min for the extra hp anyday,just need to get my clutching to 100% but she is almost there never should have geared down worst thing i ever did ,had to start clutching all over again lol o well

i added one to the high and mid at 5000 and 1 to the low 6200 fixed the bog comp i hope it works for u cause it worked for my buddy too
 
WOW! Those numbers are way different. I dont think i have the 09 flash and maybe that is the difference. Maybe the 09 flash will help the bog, because i tried everything for 3hrs straight trying to tune it out and sometimes it would run great, but other times would get a lean bog and get stuck around 6500. When it got stuck in the mid range my egts would hit 1100-1150 instantly. I tried adding fuel and then it would make me have a rich bog at times and then run fine at times. i did the TPS exhaust valve boondocker mod rode it for a couple hours and no mid range bog. Thats cool you are runnning pump gas at 1500ft. It might inspire me to try it. Anyway thanks for the numbers, they are the first m1000 twin pipe numbers i have seen beside what d&d specifies.
 
Never mind those wernt twin pipe numbers. I should learn to read.:face-icon-small-con
ya sorry i fixed it,so that it clearly says single pipe set up now so there is no mistake,when i was tunning this pipe the first time i thought my bogs were rich bogs but tried less got even crapper so i added even more fuel till it finally fixed it the worst thing is i found my clutching was also partial to blame for some of the bog but almost have that were it should be too but i love this set up now good luck

m1000 project

I havent posted here in awhile, but i just rebuild the entire motor (wiseco piston kit and crank seals) including porting. I had a lot of fun doing it.

I cant say that i am too excited about the tuning. I am going to get a A/F and i have KOSO egts. Make it run fat and bring it back into where it needs to be.

I pulled my block off out and put stock power valves back in but after reading this I am wondering if the blockoffs are a better option?
