M1000 153 or 162?

OK, I know this has probably been beaten to death, and it probably comes down to preferance.

I have had my heart set on geting a 2007 M1000 162, I will be cash in fist this coming weekend. I have found a good deal locally on a 153 though. The difference is probably driving an hour to buy the sled and anywhere from 5-10 hrs to find a similarly priced 162.

I have been riding a borrowed M7 153 for a couple of seasons now and love the M chassis. I am 6'2" and probably 230lbs dressed to ride. We live to ride off trail and in SW CO that means deep, light, bottomless powder.

Is the 153 going to disappoint for my needs?

I am thinking I can justify this and buy the nearby one. Nobody I ride with is on a longer than 154-155 track, and no bigger than an 800cc. Plus the fact that I have been pretty happy on the 153 until last weekend when we were all stuck.

I am going to look at the 153 today.

Thoughts?

Get the 162 if you are getting a 1000. The extra float goes nicely with the extra power. I have never had a problem throwing mine around and I am only 150lbs...

The sled was not very clean and has a rebuilt motor. That isn't bad in a way I guess but new pistons, a cylinder and crank by 1600 miles. I think it was rode hard and put away wet.

if you are getting a 1000 u will need the extra track length to transfer the power to the ground, imo. expecially since u say light deep powder, i can recommend the 162 powerclaw.....:face-icon-small-hap

If the deal is sweet enough to where you can buy the 153 and put on a 162 PC for close to the same money as a stock 162 then buy a 153, but you will want a 162.

I know i got a 163 and my bro got a 153 and he has wished he had my 162 ever since the first day we went out! I think the 162 is just a better match with the 1000! I have the 09 tunnel with the 162 powerclaw and I feel its alot easier to whip around then his 153 in stock form!

the difference between a 153" and a 162" is about 4" ... why not just get the bigger one?

For sure go with the 162, I have a 153 and ride with buddy who has the 162 and wish i would have went with the 162. I thought it may be harder to turn playin in the trees, but you dont notice the difference except when climbing or in pow. The 162 seems to make that much of a difference. On the other hand I did change to a powderclaw 153 and I was impressed with the difference. Floats alot better in the pow.
