M1000 02 bung location

Where's the best place to weld in the bung for my 02 on my 1000 with an SLP
single. Most I've talked to say to go right beside the stk sensor on the large expansion chamber part of the pipe and as vertical on it as hood clearance allows. What's your guys's thoughts on this thanx?

If you put it too close to the engine you will chance it over heating the sensor. If it is too close to the exhaust exit it will not read properly at low Rpm. they say ten exhaust diameters upstream from exit and pionted up so condesation cannot build inside of the sensor.

I've tried before the Temp sensor on the inside radius, and in the neck of the pipe before the stock muffler on the stock pipe of my M-8. Put on a SLP pipe set and I put it in the can to keep the pipe looking good didn't want to ruin the finish :D. I did'nt see any difference where I put it but I used the KOSO adapter in the stock pipe to save the sensor, did away with the adaptor when I put it in the can. Put it where u feel fit besides close to the can outlet, I'm sure you will get the same readings I didn't see any diference anywhere and I was very skeptic on the location in the beginning that's why I've tried so many locations ;) More than likely eventualy u will have to buy a new sensor if you continue to run your wideband over a period of time, I think its better to learn how to test it to see if it actualy works periodicaly than worrying about where to put it. When they go bad you start getting weird lean readings.

To test remove the sensor from the pipe, power up your wideband somehow and wait a min for the sensor to heat itself then grap a lighter without lighting and hold to the tip of the sensor while giving it some buttane and observe the readings on the gauge it should peg way rich then remove the lighter and it should way lean. Hope this helps.
