M Series Throttle Cable Replacement how to?

I am looking at replacing the throttle cable on my 2008 M8. The last two times it has been trailered in the cold, the cable has been seized. I managed to losen it up both times, but its a hassle.

How easy it is to replace?

Any tricks or step by step instructions?

Does the new cable need adjustment, or just put it on and rock?

Easy to replace - Did mine when the sled had zero miles on it (one of those mod goes wrong the night before the trip thing)

Yes, it will need adjustment on the threaded end where it attaches to the throttlebodies. Take the Y-pipe heat shield off and/or bellypan for access.

Can you explain more on the adjustment, please?

I am looking at doing a 6" riser and think I'll need brake line and throttle cable and want to make sure I'm not biting off more than i can handle...

We managed a 6" riser on my friends M7 with only extending the brake line, and hand warmer wires. Throttle cable was just long enough.

Thanks!

One more question: did you have to bleed your brake line when you replaced that?

I did not replace the line. We extended it using a 4 inch steel brake line and some fittings on the caliper side. We did not bleed the line. It was MUCH easier than I expected. And only cost about 4 bucks.

Got about 6" of riser on mine and extended only the brake line with a 8" chunk of brake line and a coupler from the autoparts store. Also rerouted the throttlecable to the RH side of the engine.

Don't go hacking into the wire harness.
