M series riser question - Need to go 8" high

My riding buddy has a 06 crossfire 600. He is 6'7" tall so he needs a lot of rise to stand comfortably. He put on a 4" ole's riser and it is no where near enough. He is looking to go with a 8" riser.
First Anyone done this? What needs to be extended? Throttle cable, break line, kill switch and hand warmers. Anything we are missing? Should he buy longer cables, or have stock cables extended?
Second, will the steering post hold up to this amount of rise? If not, what are your suggestions for fixing or reinforcing the post?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

the bending of the post really depends on how you ride. If you tend to yank on the post and weiht alot you will probably bend it. I woudl say get a chromaly post or you could insert some round stock in teh existing post. I know someone that bent one with a 4" riser but he wrecked a chomally post. As for the wires you will need to extend them by hand.

POWER MADD makes a beautiful pivot riser, if u use the pivot witha 6 inch riser it ='s about 8 inches of rise and you can buy the cable extensions. and he is right bout the post bending it can happen there is longer chromoly posts i think made by fast lane

I just put a 5" on mine. You will need a brake line for sure. I got away with the stock throttle cable, but you won't. All your cables will need to be extended. It only takes about an hour or two of soldering.

I would highly recommend doing something with the post if you're going that high.

I would go with a aftermarket steering post. Get a post that 4'' higher with 15 deg offset and then use the 4'' risers you have. also look at getting new bars too. you can get bars that sweep upwards a inch or 2. I am going to go with a new post and fly bars on mine and then use a solid riser for the difference. I can't find the link to the company that makes the aftermarket posts.. If I find Ill repost it up for ya..

Just went with a 6" on mine well actually its a powermadd pivot so its like 6.3" of rise..

New brake line is needed..
Have to lenghten out all of the accesories wired coming from the bars
I got by with re route'n my throttle cable.. however he will have to go with a powermadd extension.. I searched for 2 months and couldn't find a company making a longer throttle cable for my 08 m10..

I'm going to try the stock steering post and see what happens....

I run a 4 inch riser with protapers that are about 2 inchs. I run 440 style controls hard wire my brights on and run atv (or rsi warmers). For the brake line I use a piece of hard line and coupler from napa. As for the t cable you'll have to run the powermadd since no one makes a longer cable that I know of. This is not the cheapst set up but by far the most cleanest set up I've seen.

Sorta same setup for me. 4'' risers and aero tapers. 440 kill switch, 440 throttle and powermadd throttle block. dealer had a aftermarket hi/low switch. I put 2 toggle switchs in by the key for my hand/thumb warmers. Also running powermadd handguards. Didn't have to use any extenders.

I run a 6 inch risor and a powermadd pivot risor. This gives you 8 inches of rise. The throttle cable can be relocated to the other side which will give you the room you need depending on the rise of the handlebars. My brake line was long enough (05' M7 limited). As long as your doing this you might as well add some RSI handwarmers, odi grips, and some bars that are comfortable for a guy that is 6'7. Save the old plug-ins from the old warmers and solder them to the RSI's or your new cat ones. At 6'7 you could bend any post if you reem on it hard enough.
