M series hood venting?

I have an 08 m8, running jaws twins. Now i have melted everything possible under the hood. I have replaced my oil injection reservoir twice, now that its melted once again, i have removed it completely. Wiring harnesses, etc etc. and the hood it self and all the intake ducting. I have the side vent kit on it. and my pipes are now ceramic coated. Is there vent kits out there for the top of the hood?? any ideas thnx

Here's a pic of a good vent I noticed the melting all went away with this vent. I also heat taped everything that had an o-ring in it or a gasket. The new m's actually come with a heat shield that protects all of the fuel rail and injector connectors and stuff.

good qustion. was wondering about ditching the stock hood, and getting a mesh hood. whats your thoughts on that? or is it better to just to cut holes until it can get enough heat out?

hood vent

that is what I did was went to a mesh hood and I would get the 08 heat shield from cat for the injectors.Where did you get the hood vent on the top and how much was it thats kinda cool

I cut out the faring right above the footwells...the area that is louvred. I opened the louvres completely in an attempt to get air moving through the engine compartment. This was on my M7 and I will be doing it again on my '09 M8. The heat has to go or the machines are self destructing every minute they are running.

We have the center hood one - aluminum frame with tough mesh on it. Then we have the ones on the sides of the hood vents also as is in the picture.

The large one in the center is $100 and the smaller side ones are $55 for the pair in whatever color you'd like.

:) 2fun

In response to the earlier post I also run the jaws on my M and the new heat shield will not fit underneath of the twins. I used a heat blanket I bought from Jeg's and have it going from the airbox top over the fuel rails and injectors. Since it is flexible it works well. I too will be adding a hood vent this year, not for melting but because after doing a pull or riding in deep pow I lose serious power once the underhood temps and pipe temps climb too high.

Anyone out there running the vent notice any changes?

Can you get the M7 Vent hood From A/C?

Ive been thinking of Just running a D/S hood . Its preety light when its gutted tho...

Thanks for all the help guys!! in response to the xxxmodrod vents. is the upper hood vent made to fit in place of a lrage opening in the hood, or for smaller horizontal cuts?? i need as much venting as possible. looks like great stuff. will deffinatly be doing the y vent for sure.

clutching, i ran stock clutching last year with the twins. worked pretty good. played with some primary weights. but went back to the 72 gram weights. im running a cuttler secondary this year with 40 horse nitrous. changing the primary spring as well. ill let ya know how she works!!

yes you can get vents in red just email us or call if you dont see what you are looking for on the site.

if you want the most venting our plain hood vent flows a bit more than the cat head. It has the same outside shape

we all so have great side vents.

thank you
