M Series hood options...

So I have a 2007 M1000. I like the look of the OEM hood, but they are too easy to break, crack and the like -- are basically unrepairable, and cost $420 or more to replace OEM.

Been looking to replace my hood and spend the money on an aftermarket hood, say on a mesh hood with bendable aluminum frame so that if i do roll it, or dump it...my new $400 stock plastic hood isn't worthless.

Any good ideas or suggesstions? I've been looking at these:

http://www.rmproducts.net/content/arctic_cat_mseries_stealth_mesh_hood

The bars on the above look much more able to move and bend back than tube aluminum.

Looking for opinions and input. I'm just tired of spending the money on stock plastic ones that crack and break too easy...want something more rugged and "serviceable".

Let the input fly.....go.

They look to be able to take some abuse. I'm personally not a fan of the mesh hoods. To me they look ugly. But functionally as a product they are really good from what I've read and heard.

yeah i'm not a super big fan of how they look, but i guess in the world of spending $$ over and over on a plastic hood vs a look I don't like quite as much but will be fixable...i guess i'm at the point of not wanting to constantly throw $$ away on a hood i know is gonna break and get thrown away...ya know?

I got a hood from my wife's old sled that is "stitched" together with zip ties. Lol We named it the Frankenhood. Lol It will be a good spare and to be honest it looks pretty cool.

brtech thrasher if you can find one for sale. Literally indestructible and they look factory. only downfall is you have no option for mounting stock headlights or intake plenum if you wanted to run them. Unless you're crafty :face-icon-small-win

unfamiliar with these...is there a website or contact you know of?

I'm crafty... :)

Hood

I have been looking high and low for a good aftermarket hood thats not built out of a coke bottle or a $1200 carbon. Tison TMK built some nice hoods in the day that were 2" higher for pipe clearance can't seem to find anything like that. My M1000 Jaws twins play heck with my hood.

I have a mountain fit hood with all the venting you can think of..I'd prob get rid of it, pm me if your interested
