M-1000 blew need help

M-1000 blew need help on the cause, 700 miles 07 m-1000 I say piston slap and the shop that charged almost 4000$ for repair says bad fuel I call BS

The pics aren't that great but the top of the piston looks pretty sandblasted and pitted. Detonation wreaks havoc on pistons especially with continued use.

What ever caused the damage it still sucks for you. At one time or another if you have been sledding very long it happens to us all. I know it has me, more than once.

Fuel quality is so sh$tty anymore you can never be to safe especially at lower elevations.

All the damage to the top of the piston is around the outer edge.

Sorry bud, Im pretty sure piston slap does not cause the top edge of your piston to disintegrate.
