M-1000 2 degree key w/ extra base gasket

Has anyone added another base gasket to raise the transfer ports just enough to clear the piston ?
Also doing that would drop compression enough to safely add a 2 degree timing key????:confused: Kind of a poor mans port job. Or is it not worth the effort?
Of course this is on a M-1000.

that's a lot of effort to not port it IMO. the parts (and then some) are already removed. if you are going to go that far why not get it ported?
 
Its not about port timing but more about airflow..
The exhaust need a good portingwork to get efficient.So you will be way better of with a good porting on that engine.Porting and a pipe/pipes will give you incredible good performance compare to invested money.I have used countless of hours with testing of various porting/pipe combos,and this is by far the best of the modern engines to get hp.
