We dive deep into the 2026 LYNX Snowmobiles lineup with guests Janne Tapio (Snowmobile Project Manager), Hannu Harkonen (Global Product Manager), Pascal Vincent (Director Global Product Strategies BRP) and Andreas Bergmark (LYNX Ambassador and RedBull athlete) and host Ryan Harris. We focus mainly on the 2026 LYNX Shredder RE and Shredder DS models and their new features, changes and updates. We also cover the 2026 LYNX Commander, Brutal, XTerrain and Rave.

So basically everything they list there is everything I did to my '23 Shredder, it still couldn't hold a side hill to save its life, trenched like a ditch witch, and was still the heaviest ... "mountain sled" ... on the market.

IMO, BRP has totally completley missed the mark on the North American (especially Rocky Mountain) market with these sleds. If they can't make the PPDS suspension perform at least on par with the Expert suspension in the back country, they otta just forget the whole thing IMO ....

thing is, these sleds were NEVER designed for the North American Market.

If you look at how much of the componentry was shared with the Skidoo summit sleds, the only major outlier was the rear suspension ... The skis the original Shredder line came with were not the limiting factor, at least certainly not in my opinion ... it was that rear skid. It didn't matter what I did as far as aftermarket shocks went and I tried two different valving and spring combinations on the Zbroz shocks I put on there, that thing trenched like crazy, especailly in comparison to the Matryx sleds with the 3.25" track.

The supposed "benefit" of that PPDS suspension, at least IMO, should have held true even for the north american market because it was supposed to soak up bumps better than what was currently on the market. After two seasons on it and countless hours trying to dial the weirdness out of it, I can look myself in the mirror with a straight face and say it did not accomplish that goal either. Its not like we don't have whooped out rough trails here in the Rockies. Stiffening up the valving on the rear shock made it trench a little less for me, but it also made it want to scorpion me on bumps ... and I've never had that happen to the extent it happened on the shredder. IDK.

IDK ... I think BRPs marketing folks grossly mischaracterized their primary market for who was going to buy that sled as its basically the same trail sled with a long track on it the OEMs were selling as a mountainsled in the early 2000s but with a killer motor.

*shrug* My $0.02 after spending two seasons on the '23 shredder DS at least ....

i almost never see lynx’s at any of the snow parks. the marketing or lack thereof, never seemed to pinpoint exactly why you’d choose one of these over a summit or who they’re suited for. i read somewhere that they’re more suited for snow conditions across the pond and they soak up bumps well because of the endless miles they traverse over there which brings back the question of why were they released here?

the lynx boondocker is the most playful, fun, best sidehilling sled i have ridden. My lynx RE is terrible in every respect except a huge whooped out trail
