Lowering engagement

Hey all. I have a 13 xf I use for ice fishing and the clutching is, undesirable.. engaging at 4500 rpm Is not my idea of a good time. The primary currently has the yellow and white spring (0646-229) 122lb 285lb
What spring should I be ordering to get me around or under 4000 rpm engagement? Any knowledge is appreciated!

Check your belt deflection, if too loose it will engage high. If belt is worn narrow it will also do that. I have never had a harsh engagement issue with that spring if everything else is good. Also check your weights and rollers for binding and wear.

I used the cat gold spring for my 10 and 14 m8s. Nice smooth engagement and still a high enough finish rate.
Think I have one in my parts supply if you want to give it a try.

Depending on your riding elevation Cat offers a spring for 3000 ft and under ( green 0646-252), that will lower your engagement and to around 3500 rpm. As others have stated ensure your clutches are clean with no failing or failed parts and the belt is in good condition with proper deflection. Another thing to check is see if the secondary has been updated to the big fin should be the same part number as the 2014. I am not 100 percent sure on the year for the secondary upgrade and if your model is applicable. Just something to check.
