Review ths specs - Why won't the 2006 turn the RPM ? It gets to 7650 and just flattens out, doesn;t surge doesn't miss.

Testing at 6500 feet. 1/2 mile stretch.

My 2005 900 /166 sled runs very well runs 8,000 RPM pulls like a mule.

I bought it with most of the Mods on it.
This one was built by HighMark here in Boise. It has the 32mm crank upgrade kit in it. 06 Pistons.
It has the SLP performance package with the head, reeds, pipe, spi stinger
fire n ice.
I believe they did the porting work.

68 MTX with 3 grams inside

My 2006 900 /166 sled will only turn about 7650, runs smooth.

I bought it with most of the Mods on it.
This sled will only pull 7600 on the same trail and is a bit doggy.
I bought it out of Kalamith Falls Oregon.
It has the SLP performance package with the head, reeds, pipe, Big Barker.
fire n ice.

Ves Vales are Clean

I cleaned the VES Valves, I have Yellow SLP springs in them.

I have no idea what the ECU flashes are.

Check your primary clutch. The Weights and springs are what limits the motors RPM.The weights seem light to me.

wow, im runnin almost same sled and i took out 11-74 cause i was at 7600rpm, now ive got the 72G MTX weights in it and turn 7800 all day. ride 6000 to 8000ft. i have my VES hoses plugged off though and have since day one, maybe try that. otherwise, maybe plugged injector....how many miles on sled? compression test? New spark plugs? what belt are you runnin and what kinda shape is it in?

hmmm the clutching seems to be the same between your 05 and 06. One with an slp spring with a 140/340 rate and the 06 has a polaris spring on it with a rate of 120/340.

I'm thinking you have a dirty clutch. You said the motor runs great. I would check the clutch. Clean it very well and give it a try. If that doesn't help then go for the VES. Check the bellows and pull the guillotines out and clean them very well. I believe there is a how to up in the stickies on top of the thread.

Clutching

I put the very light 68g weights on the Primary for that reason to see if it would turn anymore RPM.

But it won't

It had 11 -72 on it I had the 11 - 68 so I put them on no more RPM.

I read somewhere that some of the P85 clutches ( maybe just certain years)would not shift out all the way ? Needed machining done to them ?

I will check out the TPS and the Throttle Cable also.

If you have 2 sleds try swapping the secondary.Mine kept binding up until i rebuilt it ,acted all most the same.worth a shot if you got one you can try.

Do u know for sure your runnin slp mapping on the ecu? The slp map is the only reason these motors need to rev that high. Stock rpm hp peak is like 74 to 7500. Just another thought

SLP Kits on Both

Yes they are basically similiar in the SLP kits.

One has Highmark Porting

Can't swap clutches, one is the 30mm the other has the 32 MM upgrade.

Unless all 2006 had 32mm cranks ?

I was talking secondary actually,no the 06 did not have a 32mm crank unless it had been updated...far as i know.

the 11 series weights are actually heavier then the 10 series. you would have to order 2g heavier 10 to match the 11..

example...if your running 11-68 now, you would have to get 10-70s to match..

sounds to me like the 11 series you have are too heavy. i would go lighter like 11-64 or 10-68 series.

could be broken primary spring
could be chipped reeds..

ONLY USE STOCK REEDS...all others are JUNK! period.

this is also a different situation.

the MTX weighst are 4g heavier then 10 series. if you have 74g MTX, its the same as 10-70 weights.

this applies to both of you as well. The 11 series and the MTX have unique profiles, these weights pull much harder on the start and through the midrange then 10 series.
