Love my Pro but have a couple questions.

Second season on my 11 Pro 800 and I'm having a few issues. I used the search function but I don't have the time to keep trying different combinations of words to find the answer.

#1. Sled goes into reverse by itself, no rhyme or reason. I'll come to a stop and let the sled idle and it will go into reverse, sometimes I have to shut the sled off to get it out to reverse. Bad switch? Pinched wire?

#2. Last season on a couple occasions I experienced a bog at full throttle. This year the problem is progressively getting worse. It only does it under full throttle and load.

#3. Brake light on the dash goes on and stays on periodically.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul

Sounds like you have a wiring problem. I had a problem similiar problem with the brake light on mine. Was a wire shorting to ground on chassis.

Since both of these circuits are at the bars, I would check the wiring there first.

Great info by the way!
We just recently had the same issue with the brake light on the dash going on and off periodically. That did not happen until we readjusted the handle bars. Sounds like you have an electrical problem. (DUH!):face-icon-small-con I would check into the wiring in or around the handle bar areas first like coolx2 and skibreeze mentioned. .:face-icon-small-ton Have you noticed any periodically dimming of your head or tail lights? :light:

No dimming at all. I found one of the wires worn through for the reverse switch down under the hood. Didn't see it shorting out on anything but taped it up anyhow. I did however find the filer neck of my oil res to be deformed and oil all over the clutch area. Exhaust valves are free and clear, new plugs and checked the spark plug wires. Will ride again and report back.

Sounds like the Reverse issue is either your switch, or like you said the worn wire you found.

The Brake light issue is the push switch inside the brake master cylinder sometimes gets hung up or packed full of snow on the back side of your brake handle. They are very sensitive switches and can be a pain, but do get froze or stuck. Not much you can do about it.

At the end of last year my would have the same bog as you are describing, I ended up changing out the Fuel Filter and that seemed to cure it.. Hope that helped.

also check your throttle cable freeplay..it needs almost zero freeplay, and as it gets looser with cable stretch it will cutout(especially when doing a rt carve/sidehill with the exhaust in the snow.....

After a long hard 3 days of riding this is what happened.

1. Reverse issue seems to be fixed.
2. Bog was present still.
3. Ran two tanks of fuel with injector cleaner in it and it definitely got better. I won't say it's fixed until it's gone or that the cleaner was the answer but it sure was 90% better. Fluke? Maybe, only time will tell. My buddy around the corner has the same sled so I may pull his TPS and put it on mine and test if the problem is back next ride.

The only thing after that would be to replace injectors which I've read may be the ticket but I want to rule out all other possibility's first.

Throttle free play or water in the TPS connector can can cause the bog as well. When you check it add a little dielectric grease to the connector when plugging it back in. That should prevent any future water from getting in. Mine has the 4 year bumper to bumper warranty so I have my dealer look at mine for anything. I know the head M and trust him but I usually do my own research as well.

My father's 11 pro was having a similar bogging issue. He took it to the local dealer and they did some tweaking and didn't fix it (this was after people were saying changing the injectors fixed a bogging issue). So we rode it some more, still had a bog, finally after the first year he took it back to the local dealer ship that originally denied injector issues with early build pro's switched out the injectors and that finally fixed his bogging issue. The dealer even said that they had a few sleds come in with bogging issues and replacing the injectors fixed them, but when we suggested it they said we were full of sh*t.

As simple as this sounds, since running injector cleaner through 2 tanks of fuel the problem is gone. I don't want to be to optimistic but at this moment WOT has no bogs.

Worth a try for $2.99
