Lots of Oil out exhaust after sitting? Help?

Hey guys,

This started occurring about mid way through the season. If I let sled sit a week or more when I would start it up it would blow a bunch or oil out of the exhaust. I never fouled plugs all season when riding. If I rode everyday didn't do it. Just not sure what is going on. When riding in McCall in Feb it only did this the first day in the parking lot on initial start up. Once warm and riding had no problems. You think maybe my oil pump is being held open a little and allowing oil to drain into the case? That's my only thought. Just "winterized" it for the summer so have a while to get it fixed.

Thanks,

Dan

Likely a center main seal leaking oil from the center water pump oil cavity into the case sides.

X2 my nephews sled did that, his was bad hardly ran after awhile, no need to summerrize it already done.

Dang,
I've got less than 1k miles on total rebuild, probably more like 500. Anyway to check without tearing it down?

yes. disconnect the oil tube to the oil reservoir off the case located in the center and mark the level and see if she drops..it will raise and fall with changing temps quite a bit so this will take some time to verify.many rebuilds re-use the old center seals. That really sucks!

the very best assured way is to extend a clear 3ft. high tubing straight up and fill it half way with oil and mark it. It will likely move up and down at least 8 inches,This way you can visually watch it as she raises and falls.
