losing weight on the 2013

and supposedly polaris is going to continue to focus on light weight for the foreseeable future.

Crazy!!! Well i guess you would no better than i would. I thought they advertised the 880 on there website as 383lbs. and that had stock suspension on it. Guess not...

Here my last CF chasiss. Nextech skid, interegrated CF fuel tank. 100% TI bolts, (even the reed cage bolts). It was 400lbs. It also had a 15 wide CE. I have never seen sub 400, I alway run a headlight so If you delete that you could see just under 400. 350? never. Where would you loose the weight? IMHO not possible with a 163, liquid cooled 800.

I am 165lbs so I can't go much more there..:)

Is the weight worth it?? Absolutley. No question. Do I notice 1/4 tank of fuel? So much so we are considering building 6 gallon tanks with quick couplers so we can quickly ditch the weight. Next time you are at nice open face do a pull, then take of your backpack and do it again in a fresh line.

Weight is like HP, as far as misconceptions, they dont get that light and they dont make 160HP either. (unless its an 860).

FWIW.

One good thing about cat is you can loose weight fast and cheap if you know what your doing, but after you get close to the pro weight it adds up just as fast and you don't get the handling. What polaris has is a lot more than light weight the functionality of the pro is hands down mind blowing for a stock sled to those that use it to its full potential. (except the motor)

I think thats the fattest squirrel I've ever seen. :face-icon-small-hap

With parts that are currently available.
On a 2013 which already has light drivetrain with Aluminum drive shaft.

-10 lbs for Diamond S hood (deletes headlight)
-6 lbs for Diamond S or Alt Impact Ti A Arms
- 4 lbs all Fox Float2 shocks
- 4/5 lbs LW can
- 6 lbs full CF Nextech rear suspension
- 5 lbs CF PCC CF side panels and front bucket
- 5 lbs CF Evans marine tunnel with 2013 Hard Ano Pro RMK running boards
-3 lbs Gundrilled Ti jackshaft (custom, but avail) from Wahl Bros
-1 lb Remove center driver
- 2 lbs SPG Free Ride seat
====================
- 46 lbs (call it 40 to be conservative)
Final Dry weight (if 417 is an accurate number)
377 lbs

If you really wanted light... A Carbed PAR 910 Small block in place of the DC-CFI-2... Premix and deletes all of the heavier CFI components... Lightened flywheel too.
Probably good for -12 lbs.
==================
- 58 lbs (call it 50 to be conservative)
Final Dry weight (if 417 is an accurate number)
367 lbs

From there.. if you want to get esoteric.
-7 lbs with custom CF fuel tank
-6 lbs with lots of Ti fasteners
-1/2 lb with PCC clutch cover/ti bolts
-4 lbs with custom Ti exhaust pipe
-2 lbs with cusom Ti/alu steering gear (posts, links, rod ends, idlers)
-1 lb custom Ti/carbide wear bars
- 1 lb custom CF console

It would be interesting to see what a "no-holds-barred" kind of weight the chassis could get if cast in Monocoque full CNT (Carbon Nano-Tube) construction???

everyone keeps saying 6 pounds for titanium a arms. That was for the 11-12. Aren't the 13 arms 2.5 pounds lighter? If that is the case, you are only losing 3.5 pounds. That would still be good for a pro. It is going to be a lot of little things to lighten it up. You are not going to see the big double digit things like the old sleds.

MH, If you did all that, you just as well start from scratch. would be nice to see prices with those mods.

What you might want to consider is if you go that light you don't need as much track and could cut back on track length and save a few more pound of weight plus rotating mass.

I think your Doo might need to loose a few pounds :face-icon-small-coo Carl's Cycle Posted this 3/3/12

Weighed the 2013 PRO today- REAL weight 16lbs lighter

We had a 2013 PRO 155" in the store this week and put it on the scales. It came in 16lbs lighter than the 2012. This sled is a demo and has 700 miles in it.

We weigh sleds "wet" which means full of antifreeze, oil reservoir topped off and chaincase fluid(which there is non on the 2013 PRO). The gas tank is completely drained.

The weights below were all measured on our scales(Longacre Racing Products computer scales) and these are "wet" weights. All sleds were new and assembled out of the crate, except for the 2013 PRO which has 700 miles on it.

2013 PRO 155" 438 lbs
2012 PRO 155" 454 lbs
2012 M8 153" 496 lbs
2012 ETEC 800 154" 501 lbs

Sorry i have been so quiet lately. Over the summer i put two more guys on board, and we have been busy trying to get everybody ready for this season. I should know for sure in the next few days some "real numbers" on at least some of the components in question. I know it can get pretty frustrating with asumptions. Along with all the new suspension pieces promised, i will have a full asortment of fasteners as well, front and rear. Good things in the works, just been too busy to post. Stay tuned, and keep an eye on the web site, as i will try my best to keep it updated.

when is somebody going to weigh a 13

Already did in a different thread, it was in Kg so you had to convert it but it was a current production '13 PRO and it was within a pound of advertised!

You'd have to make your Skud a one cylinder to be close weight wise.

cf hood

I noticed late last night that Patrick Custom Carbon has released there PRO plastics in full CF. Not just the hood and side panels but the fenders and nose pan also. Just says call for price and availability now but we will know the cost soon enough.

Little birdie said something about that sub 350 pro. Guess where the cf parts could of come from.

I know this is an old thread, but just wanted to chime in.

Brad at Power Addiction Racing claims that his 1100 twin with carbs saves 25 lbs over the stock engine/efi setup. Huge boost to the power/weight ratio!

first think i did on my new 13 800 is to take off that afterthought of a tool bag of my clutch cover.. then threw that made in china **** away.. first mod done. next!!
