2010 crossfire 800, has m8 gearing power claw track, new motor mounts new primary new HD secondary with 36 degree bdx adjustable spring tension helix. Also has a brand new cat crate engine.
I had this problem last year but much worse, I quickly scrubbed up the primary clutch with a scotchbrite pad and it was clean. I don't know if these marks are from last year or not. Last year I blew a belt full throttle and I put a new primary and secondary and the primary was destroyed in 5 miles, it got so hot it melted the bushings right out of the clutch. I couldn't figure out what was wrong so I put on a brand new cat clutch, it would do the same thing. Clutches would get insanely hot and the primary would have black marks mid way up the primary. I checked the runout on that engine and it was .008" out so that's why I replaced the engine. I also assumed the bad runout caused the accessive heat.
So now after doing all this work the primary has these marks on it, I went for a ride and drove it pretty hard and heat seems to be minimal. The clutches/belt are very warm but not hot like it use to be. Just need some opinions on this, or should I just run it and keep an eye on it? Thanks.
