almost 4 ft possible in the next 36 hours.....

The way the wind has been howling thru here for the last few days there HAS to be some HUGE drifts up there... Anybody know if the forest service has opened it yet?

Be sooooo cool to ride thanksgiving without having to travel!!!

Rule of thumb for snow on Baker is if it's around 40 in Sedro-Woolley no matter how hard it's raining snow is a comin down on the mountain! I have left town headed for Baker in a down pour and once at the first parking area it was snow and rain, the further you went up the road the more it was snowing.

This is correct, an I know, cause i have lived in woolley a decade :beer;

I'm not sure how accurate this info is, but heard last weekend that Baker is off limits this year until Dec. 1st, no matter how much snow is in the meadow. Can anyone confirm this?

Looks like we will have a great base, was at Baker ski lodge yesterday and it was raining cats and dogs. Water pooring over road on way up, then temp dropped and snowed a couple of inches in an hour. It was snowing hard by 6pm.

Temp. is the key,, at around 40° in Sedro-Woolley,,,,,,,,,, then more times than not it is snowing on Baker. The hi at the ski resort was probably low to mid 40's which means it is too warm. Also the ski resort is not on Mt. Baker there is a gap between the two.

I hate myself for saying this....(I want to keep it all to myself). I spoke with the forest service. The deal is that it is open to snowmobiles, just not on the road. All you need is 24" of good base over the ground. They do not officially open the terrain. They do not officially open the snow park until Dec. 1. So in short you can ride anytime there is 24" under your sled. I'm not making this up. You may have your own opinions, but that is directly from the forest service station at Sedro. I wanted to triple check because of the giant sign below the snow park that states, "CLOSED TO SNOWMOBILES". Apparently this only applies to the roads.

Have fun, and please don't ruin for the rest of us. If there isn't 24" under your sled off the road please do not ride there.
