Hold my hand please!
I'm a long time rider looking for a change from the norm and something unique. i really like the looks and style of snowhawks and they seem like a blast. my concern is that i ride in the backcountry where the powder is bottomless and there are a lot of narrow switchbacks through the trees where we ride very technical and slow to boondock our way back to the secret spots.
How do these handle in deep powder?
how the hell do you pick one up in 5 feet of pow if it tips over or gets stuck?
can you stop and slowly corner out in the sticks?
how do you haul them on a trailer?
do they 'float' in deep pow like a sled does?

Dude Your right on with those ?'s I'm in the same boat, last year I almost bought 1. I to ride the same as you everything you descibed. What size hawk would be a good starter but not underpowerd. I have seen alot of video of the hawk in action. And know they can handle the mountain's just fine. Are you guy's and gal's missing anything about sledding. Can they really handle the powder. Able to keep up with any sled. Dependability break down's. I've read owner's switching from belt to a 520 or 530 chain... Any feed back would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I really want one of these things, but I cannot buy one on only the hopes I would like it.
I am 43, and I want to see if I can still handle one of these things.........
Heck I would even buy you dinner for the opportunity to ride one in the deep for a 1/2 hour or so.........
I know it's a shot in the dark, but I thought I would try anyway

I have ridden a 503 about 3-4 years ago in Cooke City. It was fun, but under powered at that elevation. I am going to ride an 800 in Island Park in 2 weeks and am interested in buying a Snow Hawk. All my riding is western, climbing, boondocking, with very little on trail time. I am considering a long track and wondering about the tapered vs. the square track for cornering, and also how does the longer track affect turning. I have seen some videos of really tight radius turns, but all are of short tracks.

I ride a sled and have always wanted to ride a snow hawk, since i ride dirt bikes regularly. I have 2 huge concerns. The first is rideability on hardpacked/icy trails. It seems to me that the front ski might slide on the ice and lead to a very unstable and unpredictable ride. My second question is in regard to untracked powder and back country riding. That is what i do most of the time and I want to be able to continue to go to the places that i have always ridden and ride with the "hill climb" guys that i currently ride with.
I would appreciate any feedback from you current show hawk riders that might put my mind at ease and help me to make the cross over from 2 skis to 1. Since i can only afford to own one snow toy, I want to make sure that I make the right decision.
Thanks

Looking to buy an updated 03-04 503 or 600 hawk. I would prefer to find something locally so i dont have to deal with huge shipping costs. I dont mind driving a little but anything over 300 miles i wouldn't consider unless you wanted to meet half way. I would like to stay below $4500.00 if possible. If you have something or have a line on one please drop me a line. Would like to try and spend my cash this season if possible. Thanks in advance for any leads, by the way im in WA state.

So I pull up today and there they are 2 600's with two guys ready to take off. Well I bet I looked stupid but I jumped out of the truck and ran over to them. very nice guys and said they would let me ride them in the pow. Anyways they talked with me a wile and told me they live only 9 miles from me. Well I tried to catch up with them but we got in a craphole so I never got to throw a leg over one. I can't wait hopefully next weekend or in the near future. Just thought I would share as I was stoked to even see some in our area.

Ok I cannot get it out of my head that my next machine this fall will be a SnowHawk. I was really anticipating the new Nytro MTX, but it just doesn't do it for me. I miss my stand-up jet ski a ton and I love back country riding, mountain riding and some trail riding (but can get boring quickly on a 2ski), i am not a crowd follower, and am tired of the weight and bulkiness of todays traditional mtn sleds.
I have watched the videos and read the forums and have come pretty solidly to this conclusion: I need the 800 mountain.
My questions are these:
I am a huge fan of over-built reliability so how are these things? Are they yamaha/honda bulletproof, or are they closer to a polaris/cat/skidoo (run great and look awesome, but bring wrenches and parts)? by the way, I've owned them all, so not trying to start anything, just speaking from personal experience.
Not a fan of twins, so how is the vibration? I am spoiled by the smoothness of 3's and 4's.
How do they trailer? can you get covers?
Anyone make accessories? anthing at all?
144 or 151?
How is the service? Parts availibility?
Insurance- any different than any other sled?
What about the manufacture - their website is SO basic...are they a decent company to work with as far as warranty and that kind of thing?
Best thing about owning/riding a hawk?
Worst thing about owning/riding a hawk? BE honest.
Lots of questions, I know, so just answer the ones you want. Thanks guys!!!

There are more of these folks on Amsnow, Dootalk, and other sites, such a shame they are pissing away one more season waiting for their own confidence to build!
For those wondering there is a list of machines for sale on our site.
