looking at buying a 04 rx1 rear mount turbo

I'm looking at buying a sled.

I'm torn between 3 sleds. and NEED INPUT BEFORE i stab myself in the face half way through the season.

SS

Out of those 3 Id buy the m1000. Both other two are bad choices and i love and have apexs.

2strokes

My 2 cents is there is know way I would own a 2-stroke with a turbo it's not if it will blow up it's when!!!
If I lived in flat land country Id never own a two stroke either but when you ride the mountains most people can't ride 4strokes and as far as a cat goes it's prolly the most reliable 2stroker and twisted sleds consistently ran well for years. M1000's are simple sleds and fun to ride especially turbo'd with Shane's kit.

I'd say that they are asking too much for the RX1. Look at the Yamaha classifieds here on Snowest. People are selling Apex's that are newer than that RX for about the same amount. And the Apex's are fuel injected. Far better fuel system.

The RX may have an upgraded suspension, skis and rider forward work done to it, but it's doubtful that they went from carbureted to fuel injected.

If all the mods have been done to the RX, it may be a good sled. But I still think they are asking too much. If it were in tip top shape with all the appropriate mods done to it, I wouldn't pay more than $3500-$4000 for it.

Shain RIDES his sh!t, so I would look for a old man owned sled. The m8 is the lightest and the most reliable.

What turbo system is on the Rx1? Being a rear mount its likely either an old MCX or a Bender. If you want reliability the Rx will win that contest. A buddy of mine put over 10000k on a Bender Rx1. It was a laggy sled but he worked around that with the flipper. The Rx1 is a heavy sled but having a rear mount helps balance the weight a bit.

Who lives in flat land country? That's definitely not me we don't have mountains but I'm in the middle of the black hills. I ride all my 4-strokes in the trees that's I ride my buddy has an Rx and he rocks the piss out of it. Hands down the most reliable for sure

the rx-1 turbo kit is a older one. But turbo has no shaft play. But the current owner has NO idea how to use the nitrous set up.

it hasn't bee used in 2 years. But he did fire her up and she idled and purred like a kitten.

14.3-14.8 at idle on a/f gauge..

the snow pro i was thinking about aswell. it's all new and the shop that built it i have talked to and they have put alot of work into it..

I just don't wanna say **** well i shoulda.

If I were to buy the Rx1 I'd ditch the nos setup, been down that road its just not worth the hassle, might as well save the weight and cost of the fills.

Actually a properly set up RX1 fuel system works just as well as a fuel injected set up and won't go lean if overboosted. We all thought turbo fueling would be easy once sleds went to fuel injection but that wasn't the case.
