Longevity of Crankshaft on 800 H.O.

I am wondering how many miles some of you have on your motor and crankshaft before repair. I have got 3200 miles on mine and am thinking of running it another season.

my buddys got double that and is just now doing a rebuild, only because the crank seal is weak... used synthetic its whole life. depends how many miles u put on in a season.

correction.. he's got double that.. but in KM's not miles, so i guess it would be about 4000 miles..

You are probably ok for this season. I just rebuilt mine at 3,000 miles, all the bearings were fine, but it did need all new seals, and if you loose a seal, you usually loose the top end. Also, spend the money and have the crank indexed, mine was "within tolerance" but out in his mind, and I knew the guy so he straightened it up for me, got rid of half my vibration!

lost my crank this year, 3600mi. after tearing it down and seeing the condition of the grease in my mag and pto bearings I should have rebuilt the crank at the begining of this season. When the crank went it also took out the top end so I had to buy a small block from BRP and now I am waiting for the motor mounts.

I would definatly do it now, it is alot cheaper.

about 7000kms and lower connecting rod went, never had engine apart befor this.
