Longer track = RPM loss?

Converted my 153 w/ A20 to 162 PClaw! It hooks up like a muther but my top RPMs were down. Used to pull 7800 today it was 7270 on the hills. I though the 162 Pclaw would weigh about the same as the 153 A20 since its a single ply so i left everything else alone. Would you expect that kinf of a RPM drop from the longer track? Might go from 72 to 70g weights for tomorrow.

Yup, that sounds about right.

Yes, drop your primary weights and see if you can reach 7,800 again. You may have to do a spring change too to reach 7,800 again.

Are the clutching recommendations from Cat the same for 153 and 162 sleds? Logic tells me the longer track should take more to spin but since it weights about the same as the old 153 doesn't seem like i should cost me 500-600 rpms...

yes the cat spec is the same for a 153" or 162".

Yes, a heavier track or a track that hooks up harder will drop RPM....drop a little weight and ideally a slightly shallower helix, assuming your prior clutching was "spot on".

The Powerclaw has been a good upgrade for you...now simply adjust your clutching as you mentioned.

Put my 70g weights in this morning in the parking lot. Sled absolutly rips now! I almost bought a 40/36p helix before this trip and I think i still might try it but very stoked on how it ran today. Engages 3800 rpm pulls 7770 peak rpm w/ 41mph track speed. With the 09' style bumper conversion the 162 feels just like the old 153 in the trees but hooks up alot better in general. Can't wait to pull some more shoots tomorrow!!!
