Long Underwear

Ok guys what long underwear have you used and liked? Was there a brand you used that didn't work. After the most recent cold snap I thought it would be a fair question to ask being I had to double up to ride in -10 the other day. Also do you guys wear "normal" everyday underwear boxers, briefs, silks, g strings, what ever your into below your long undies or special active outdoor ones.

Cheers

Under Armour compression cold gear top and bottom works good for me.
My pants and jackets are just a shell. Keep the vents open at all times.
I'm jumping around enough I don't have a problem staying warm.
Bought a pair of Fly Racing thermal top and bottom last year and those almost work better than the Under Armour for half the price.

Try merino wool. You won't go back to synthetic. It keeps you warm or cool, wicks moisture extremely well, and the funky smell you get with under armour won't be there after using it for three or four days. It really is amazing stuff. And cheaper than any synthetic sled brand gear you can get

I use cheap moisture wicking stuff. I don't like compression fit stuff at all. Tops are like $10 and bottoms are $12 at Wally World.

I have used UA stuff before and it's no better than the stuff that cost 1/4 of the price of UA.

Cheap Wally World moisture wicking underwear, cheap base layer stated above, cheap fleece top and bottom, and either Motorfist or Klim outer. I have Klim insulated stuff for real cold trail riding days. Also may add another thin top layer if super cold out.

I do still use UA socks because I got a bunch of them on sale real cheap.

Did you happen to bump into the Griswalds's at Wally World??????

Under Armour is expensive but lasts forever. I have worn the same UA Cold gear top for the past 7 years 5 days a week Dec thru March without any noticeable wear. I wear the top all the time and the bottoms when it gets cold. I have recently picked up the UA 4.0 top and bottoms for the really cold days. I tried the cheaper version made by Cabela's but did not like how they fit so I returned them and bought the more expensive UA.

X2 for Merino Wool. Switched last year and won't be going back to synthetic sttuff. Have used UA and pretty much everything i can get my hands on. Have never used something that works as well as Merino.

x3, I have the Smart Wool products and they work great. The fresher smell helps a bunch on multiple-day rides.

I have both the merino wool and the Klim gear... both great ... the Klim is MUCH less odor prone than your average Poly-Stinkolene underwear.

Nice and toasty!!

Honestly, I have different layering systems for different days. Also, I will layer different if I am snowboarding off the sled. However, my go to would be a heavy weight powerstretch bottom (full length- don't like knickers) and a heavy merino top with a synthetic T on top.

This year I am going to try a fart bag merino. My torso is so long that even long tops will untuck. Also, I wear merino midweight snowboard socks. Huge fan of a good powerstretch glove as liner if cold. Just shell if not freezing. As said, I have a lot of options and I pack some of those pptions in case conditions change.

I've been using Rocky, buy them on clearance at wal mart in the spring, they seem kinda fleecy? have mid and heavy weight, nothing underneath usually nothing over them except unlined FXR pants. if its really cold I will wear my arctic cat insulated pants over them.

shawn,

i dont particularly like compression wicking stuff when it is cold (under armour type base layers). they wick too well, and make me feel cold and clammy. i have tried several different thicknesses, and always have that same feeling.

i dont mind that feeling when it is hot out but, when the temps are cold, i just feel cold and damp and then feel the heat leaving my body with the moisture wicking.

i prefer a "cotton feeling" wicking layer, like lightweight fleece. RU Outside has some great stuff. http://www.ruoutside.com/base-layer.html

their ec2 stuff is my go to but, they dont make it anylonger. i havent tried their newest stuff but, i am guessing it will be a new and improved ec2.

polartech has some of the same stuff. Ski

Under armour cold gear top and bottoms. The bottoms are the '3' which is their warmest. Kept me warm when riding last weekend when it was 20 below

fruit of the loom active collection, is made of a nylon type material, why pay more???

I have Icebreaker, Klim, UA, and several others.
Got the icebreaker merino wool stuff last year, have not used the others since.

Getting ready to order another set of base layer.

Icebreaker is titties. Just can't be a dude with titties or a gut to fit in. If you are athletic, Icebreaker is tough to beat

I just bought some icebreaker stuff, only worn it at work but it seems really nice. Also have some core4element, it's really nice stuff and camofire has it on sale quite oftem

I use nothing except Cabela's silk weight and medium weight long underwear, they are a fraction of the cost of Under Armour. Breathable and no swamp crotch!
