Long Track on 450

I recently found a deal too good to pass up on a 2013 long track MH. In conversation with a guy at TS i was told with my weight (with riding gear; 270-275 lbs 6'2") that I should be going with an LT.

Anybody have experience running a stock 450, specifically a KX450F with a long track, or is everybody just running 500+ stuff with LT?

Having second thoughts as to if I should just bite the bullet and buy a new (2014) SX kit ($6300) or go with a 2013 long track ($4500).

Thanks guys.

Agreed

Yes, I ran a KX450F with '13 LT and although my weight is/was about 50 pounds less than yours, you are on the right track (pun intended). Enjoy.

It's the same. In the beginning it was common to hear that you needed a 500 or larger displacement for the LT.... we have since disproved that belief.

If there is a difference in economy it's hard to measure. The bike does work less in the deep powder since you'd rev an ST more where the LT would grip better. The downside is you lose a bit of the nimbleness in the spring but I am comfortable with the trade off based on the type of terrain and riding we have near home.

You probably ride the deep stuff more often than not? I will be in Golden/Revelstoke/Fernie most weekends of the year and I want to have more fun in the deep snow than the hard stuff.
