Going to be welding up a deck and ramp for the back of my truck this wkend and it just dawned on me how far the new M8 will hang out the back of the short bed Dodge, and its only a 153!! 6.5ft bed (my tailgate is MIA) and the sled is ~11ft, is it even legal to have more than 3ft of your azz end hangin out? For now I'm just trying to make a low-pro deck that fits in the bed so i can store the ramp under it. Thinking i need a beaver tail supported on a receiver mount to support the ~4.5ft of track stickin out the back!!

No big deal at all..........The main weight is going to be right over the axle anyways. I just got done building a sled-bed to go on the floor of my truck. Had a hard time deciding to take the tailgate off or to leave it on and build it all the way to the end. Ended up building it all the way to the end, but designed it so I could chop the first front 2 feet off if I wanted it shorter later. Ramp slides right under it. Works like a champ! I had to put my legs on the outside because my ramp just barely fit between the wheel-wells to begin with. The legs kinda lock it in the bed now. To bolt it down (so the ramp couldn't be stolen when the sled was off) I used a big eye-bolt in each corner for tie downs. Try to keep the deck as clear as possible and it makes it really easy to shovel and sweep off.

All states may be different, but in Wyoming anything that sticks out more than four feet behind the tail lights requires a 12 by 12 red/orange flag during daytime, and is required to display a lit tail light after dark. You can probably figure out my job by my name...
