Little Sahara's fees about to sky rocket.

FYI the BLM Utah Fillmore district is planning massive across the board fee increases at the Little Sahara OHV sand dune area.

By eliminating the single-day pass, the increase for a single day visit will be 312% on regular days and 300% on holidays. The annual pass would go up 120%.

As of now the promised business plan is not posted to their website. It says it will be there this week. That makes a pretty short window to hit their comment deadline of Jan 7, not to mention folks are busy and distracted over the holidays.

Also I don't see any mention of this going to the Utah Recreation RAC for recommendation. Are they planning to bypass that step?

Little Sahara is very similar to Imperial Sand Dunes in that although they call it a special rec permit fee, it's implemented as a de facto entrance fee (which FLREA prohibits BLM from charging).

I read this yesterday as well.

After reading through it, the only big concern I have is with the daily pass. On Saturdays many people come out just for the day. Eliminating the daily pass is ridiculous.... If anything up the daily to 10 bucks and 12 on the holidays. I dont see any reason for eliminating it all together.

Honestly, the yearly pass is cheap. I spend more than that for one good weekend camping up at St Anns. I have no problems paying $120 for a season pass.....

Natzi's!!! We pay taxes...the BLM is operated with tax payer money, so now we have to pay twice, I agree, with the above, I don't mind paying, they keep the restrooms up and have a good overall campground appearance. It is worth paying the same as you would pay to go to any other campground.....My concern is, lets say I go on easter and buy an annual pass for the Moho, we spend several weekends/alot of weekends there, but... now when I go out in July for a early saturday morning trip in the truck, it costs me $25 for one day....come on!!

I'm with you on the daily pass, It would seem that eliminating the daily pass might be a way for them to increase revenue by reaming everyone and anyone that is just out for the day. The yearly pass even at 120 is still not a bad deal, as Jed stated a long weekend at St Anns is almost that much just to dry camp and just about double for hook ups. Looks like the best deal still is to just buy a yearly pass and yes it would be nice if it was a card of some type instead of a vehicle specific sticker.

That's my biggest problem with them. We go out there for the day, and always take turn driving. Why should we have to buy 3 different passes for 3vehicles? That's complete BS IMO!

Just another case of Government not being able to manage the funds they receive. For some stupid reason the government always thinks the only answer is to raise taxes/fees.

I have wanted to do that since I can remember. The problem is knowing before hand when there is going to be snow down there. Have you gone down and just gotten lucky, or do you have a friend or something down there to let you know when there is snow?
