lights....then no lights

i have a new blizzard enclosed trailer, the interior lights worked for a week now gone, checked bulbs and fuse....any ideas as to what to check, dealer is 60 miles away so i would like to fix this on my own. all other electrical is fine

Where are you getting the power for the interior lights from?
Some trailers take the power from the break away battery and if you have run them for awhile you may have run that battery down.

not sure if power is from break away battery or not but i towed the trailer for 9 hours no lights then 9 hours back still no lights so the battery should be recharged. with truck running still no lights.????

If no lights with the truck running could possibly have lost a ground somewhere. Just to check, all outside lights working fine? Just no interiors? Is the break away battery just a pass through for power while the truck is running or are they supposed to charge as well? I don't know, but someone could clarify. I think if the break away battery is dead there may not be enough conductivity?? to pass power through from the truck. Just a thought.

Start out simple. Check the bulbs to make sure they are good. Beings it is a new trailer you would assume the ground and bulbs are good, but you never know. Not sure how complex the inside wiring is in it but there could be a fuse or possibly a breaker of some kind in there also. Good Luck.

checked fuse in breaker box - good, two interior ceiling lights - checked bulbs in both - good, checked bulb and fuse housing contacts and ground wire contacts all good.:face-icon-small-dis

Have u checked to make sure u have power at then 7 way plug. It is the 12v power one. I want to say it is the bottom left of the plug. My guess is u blew a fuse in the truck which then u lost your 12v constant power on the plug,.

You may want to check for power and go backwards to find it. Reason is I had a similar problem in my mirage and found the light switch was playing games and nothing was coming through. That being said I also had to hook the truck up to get interior light power and being I installed a heater and two 6 volt battery's in it I found a junction box on the underside near my brake a way battery and found the power wire that feed the lights, I tied my powers supply into it and now I charge and have power to my lights without my truck...just a thought that maybe you should check the box and see that the electrical twisty thing is not loose.
Hook the truck up and trace the power back you should eventuly fine it.

i will check the 7 way plug and the truck fuse, didn't realize this carried through a seperate fuse in the truck, i thought it ran off trailer break away battery but found out today it doesn't so am i right in saying this battery doesn't charge when hooked to truck?

thanks for all the replies

Sounds like you blew the fuse in your truck. The Auxiliary in the 7way plug should charge the break away battery anytime the trucks on. If you trip the breakaway it basically just opens a switch straight from that battery to the brake wire.

Check under the hood of your vehicle. there is another fuse box there. Look in your owners manual. It will list what position each fuse is for. I lost my light to my trailer and search a long time. Then found out about the fuse box under the hood. Hope this helps.

Interior lights in my Triton trailer run off the parking light circuit (ie have to have the running lights on, on the truck for them to work). Maybe the first time you tried them, it was night time, running lights on?
