For anyone deciding that a lighter sled is better, maybe you are interested in shedding some weight from the rider. how about I just spend that 10$ on healthy food and do a little exercise..would that work?
 
Your right. The key is to eat often throughout the day. Egg whites, almonds, protein, with the right mix of carbs. The reason prepackaged meal replacements work is that they are easy and don't require a lot of planning and thought.

Last winter I was down 30 pounds and found it made digging out my sled a lot easier :)
