I would say that democrats rarely reflect my political views, but the republican party had better make a sharp return to fiscal responsibility. Right now the choice in 2010 is bad and worse. I am a patriot and I love this country. I believe the problems will solve themselves without the government. But I also believe the solution will be very very painful. History as a guide, America acts too late, the problem becomes paramount, there is much pain, agony, wailing and gnashing of teeth, and then the problem solves itself. Kinda like the last depression, it wasn't the government, but wwII. And for this crisis, the stimulus pack won't solve the problem, but the ills will be solved inspite of it. We just might not like the solution.

The biggest problem we will have "IF" we can get this country straightened out is the welfare people.
That is to say the people that rely soley on the government for some form of aid.
It is truly scary the number of people that the feds have been able to put on some form of aid. Be it food stamp, scip, welfare, SS, Medicaid, medicare, if you try to take their freebies away, they will riot. We have to have politicians that have a spine.
The other problem we will have is the fact people expect the feds to cure all the problems, when in fact the fed IS the problem. We need to return to the states that which is constitutionally the states to handle (which would be pretty much everything I listed above).
Look at California, one of the things they were looking at cutting was doing away with Welfare, not cuts, but doing away with it COMPLETELY. Didn't happen, but I thought it was interesting that it was even seriously considered.

I completely agree Ollie! These people that rely on the government tit will be a huge problem! They will turn to breaking the law to survive...oh wait most of them already break the law so they will just turn it up a bit.

I don't know, hunger is great motivator. I've seen lazy people get up and go to work, when the conditions got right. Some implode though.

The problem is the feds have been programming the populas that they don't need to work hard, you don't have to have any work ethic, you don't have to worry.
The fed has one program or another that will help you.
When I lose a job, I just go get another one.
When my neighbor lost his job, he was out of work for 9 months because he refused to take a job that he thought was beneath him. After he lost his car, his truck, and almost lost his house, he finally took a job driving a trash truck. He discovered he likes the job and makes as much as he did fixing computers.
Reprogramming the people will be harder than fixing the country.

Yup it is amazing...your neighbor's attitude is all over the place. Glad to see he finally woke up and humbled himself. I was in between jobs 3 years ago. It wasn't a pleasant parting of ways. After I lost my job, I did what I had to do to survive. MY GF suggested I apply for food stamps...I said F**K THAT! I took a job at Sportman's Warehouse in loss prevention making 8 bucks an hour...this was part-time. Then I took a job with Cable One making 10 bucks an hour for 2 months before I landed the job I have now. I was humiliated and poor as hell, but I did what I had to do. Can you imagine the humility when you show up to a house to install cable that you have done a search warrant on!? I did make the cable company aware of that kind of stuff...so they were nice enough to switch me out.

If you have a gun, you have power over someone that doesn't have a gun.
If you have the ability to take someones money thru force, that is about power, not money. The gun gave you the power to get the money. Just as getting elected gives you the power to control money, not the other way around.
Money allows you to buy things, but you can't buy power. You can only buy influence.
Only those people that have power can grant the right to have money.
Case in point, redistribution of wealth.
It's not really about money, it's about having the power to move the money where you want. Doesn't matter who has the money, you will take it because you have power.
Power gives you ability to get money, not the other way around.
Special interests give money to politicians in an attempt to purchase power, it is no garantee they will succeed. Only the politicians hold the power, you can only hope to influence them, you really can't control them.
