Lets talk titan

Looking at buying a truck here in about a year, Spending around $15,000 possibly up to $20,000. I am open to pretty much any brand half ton, besides toyota. Around 04 and up. I am hearing good things about the Nissan Titan. Anybody here own one? How do you like yours? I would be pulling a four place sled trailer to the mountains a few times per year, so need something that will pull pretty good. But not looking to go diesel or 2500 gas. Lets hear some pros and cons on the titan.

hmm.. for that kinda money you could get something a LOT more capable then a half ton, similar years, and not a titan.. my buddy had one, it was alright, but more like a big car with a bed someone slapped on it. im curious as your reasoning against diesel or a 3/4 ton?? i like them as they handle the weight of anything a LOT better and heck, my 7.3 with a 6spd gets 16mpg no matter how hard I drive it, even with around 1/4 of the tank with a couple thousand pounds of trailer and crap on/behind it.. eats big block gassers for milage, and the 3/4 ton is so much nicer for everything else.

I understand people have there minds set on things for certain reasons, im just curious, I feel like for that kinda money, a titan would be the last thing on my list.

Around here you can't really buy a nice half ton for under $15,000, and a nice diesel starts around $20,000. Big reason for going gas is price, I'm planning on paying cash, or at least 70% cash if its more than I'll have saved by then. The other main reason is I don't need one 90% of the year. The only time it would really be needed is when I would pull the sleds to the mountains. We only make a few trips per year, so buying a diesel for those few trips in a year would hardly be worth the extra price. We have done it with a gas before, and it works fine. My normal every day use is driving back and forth to work, carrying my sled around in the back when sledding locally, and a quad in the summer. I would love a nice diesel and would buy one over a half ton gas any day if they were comparable in price. but for the difference in price I just can't see it happening. If I can find a nice one in that price range I will consider it though! Cause I would love one.
And my reason for not wanting a 3/4 ton gas, would be fuel mileage. The extra weight and braking power would be nice, but if it's still a gas, in a 3/4 ton, then your gas mileage is NOT GOOD. So it's either a half ton gas, or 3/4 ton diesel if price will allow. But for most of my daily use it would be over kill.

And I'm not very into the titan, but I want to know more about it, the rest of the brands I know pretty well, but really have no idea on the titan. My buddies' boss has one, and my buddy drives it quite a bit for work reasons. He currently owns a 07 chev half ton, and says if he was in the market for a new truck he would hands down, buy a titan. So that sparked my interest a bit.

I had a Titan as a loaner. Worst full size truck I've ever driven. Interior is lack luster plastic crap too. The Titan in 4WD had about as much grip on a snow/ice covered road as my Chevy Dmax does in 2WD. Titan looked like it had okay tires on too. I seriously thought the 4WD didn't work in the Titan 1/2 the time since it would fish tail on the ice...where my Chevy 3/4 ton stayed planted in 2WD. I would not recommend one. I feel more comfortable and confident in Chevy, Ford, Dodge and even Toyota over the Nissan. (Driven them all)
