Let's talk knives

Hunting season is here and it's past due time for me to upgrade my main all purpose hunting knife. I would like to hear opinions on what brand of knife you use or prefer over another. Also if you use 2 different knifes, one for field dressing and the other for skinning. So let's hear it boys:face-icon-small-hap

I have so many different knives, LOL. I do have one of those Wyoming Skinning knives with the replacable blades. It works well. I have a nice foldable Buck knife as well. A couple different Gerbers (one is a Gator) and then I have a really nice SOG and a Kershaw as well.

I honestly like to have a bunch of knives either at camp or in the truck. Cleaning an animal out dulls a knife in a hurry. I hate using a dull knife and field sharpening just doesn't do it for me.
 
Buck 118 i have two they have done every thing for a long time elk moose deer and bear. I think now it's a 119 Keep em sharp.I have a drawer full of knives and always use the same ones.
 
I spend winter trapping, as well as spring bear hunting, and fall moose/sheep and everything else hunting..by far the best knives I have for skinning, handling meat...and just to carry..is a spyderco bill moran special...by far the best knife I have ever had..(I own 4 of them as well as giving them as gifts to all my hunting/trapping buddies....)..you might also like their sharpner..also the best I have ever found(used by the majority of butchers and tanners out there I am told...both great items that you will treasure for years to come......

about 8 years ago i went into my local hunt outfitters and asked for a really good hunting knife, the fella behind the counter called a customer over who hunted everything imaginable and said this young fellas wants a good knife. the fella turned away from the glass cabinet and grabbed a cheap 10.00 knife by remington, handed it to me and said its extremely sharp, holds it's edge and takes seconds to put an edge back on when needed. And, if you lose it your only out 10.00. I also have a 90.00 grohmann knife which i love, but for some reason i really like the remington. i think it's up to 15-20$ now.
 
Watched the man who is known to recent Naval and Marine Corps aviators as a survival God, use this Gerber: http://www.gerbergear.com/index.php/product/id/139 to chop a friggin tree in half, start a fire, and I'm sure if given the chance he would have killed a small tribe of pigmees with it. It will be in my survival vest as soon as they can sew it in.
 
Great opinions here guys, I'm kinda leaning towards a BUCK or SOG but I'm still listening!!
 
I got a few but the two that always go with me in the field are my game skinner which I got as a gift from my dad from L.L. Bean of all places. And my Rocky Mtn Elk knife. Easy to put a nice edge on both and they both work perfect.
 
I made my own skinning knife. I will see if i can find a pic.

Also, if you want a knife that will last you forever, find yourself a old Ruana, one the old man made. I have 5 or 6, great knives.

The gerber knives are also very nice.

I never cared for the buck knives, as when you sharpen them, they seem to hard, and the edge flakes off. Perhaps I am going with to much of a angle.
 
I see alot of people carry great big knives you could probably use to fight the Huns with, or butcher a T-rex. A thin three or four inch sharp drop point blade is all I have ever used for elk and deer. IMHO a thin blade is easy to keep sharp and touch up if you use it for it's intended purpose. Cut through meat and hide, and not wood and bones and the ocassional rock.
