have a boondocker turbo apex, will be putting a 2871 turbo on this year, boost-it fuel system, racers edge skid with my 174 X 3 inch track, chuck at lakeside just went through the engine and beefed up the head, plus put an aftermarket intake cam in, it has carrillo rods and JE pistons..... just kinda curious how that stacks up against other sleds.....i realize that you can spend INSANE money on them, bore and stroke etc etc....but im talkin just stock bore/stroke, same size turbo against other kits. i think BD have a bit more lag from what ive heard but i think mine is fairly snappy, what about overall power and torque ? im lookin to pull some big climbs and have heard that bd kits will also puke oil out of the bleed after so far at high rpm, anyone have this issue and/or have a fix for this ??? would love some general input, thanks guys

Sounds like a nice buggy :)
For sure you will have to get creative with the plumbing of your breather to avoid the "puking". But it can be done. Hopefully others will chime in on the proper way to resolve it.
Happy boosting

I loop a hose from the breather over the engine into a bottle on the opposite side. Its down behind the oil tank. It works great when the sled is upside down. I cant speak for the boondocker kit, mine doesnt puke any oil at higher boost levels. I've ran mine up to 19#'s boost. As for the motor work, that thing will be crazy fast if dialed in properly. Your throttle response will be waaaaay better. You'll have to turn your boost down to pull the weight you did last year. :face-icon-small-win

You will be very happy. The 2871 works very well. Did you have the smaller tubo on it before???

Chuck does incredible work on Yammi motors. Duke is right, you will feel like you are at 19 lbs when you run 16 lbs. The bottom end is where Chuck really hits hard with his work. Most notable Nytro motor builders know the potential hidden inside that head and chuck knows how to get it out.

i did have a 2860 on it but dan @ extreme machines told me that if i get a 2871 with a series 60 exhaust flange/housing itll spool nearly as fast as the smaller turbo.....so thats my plan. i had chuck put a new crank into my sled as well, so yeah im hoping that it should perform like a rockstar lol + its getting a boost it system put in by NM in october.... does the cam give notable difference from stock, i would think it should...?

The cam work is critical to the bottom end power. The cam work allows the valves to stay closed just a millisecond longer creating a larger/longer "charge" in the cumbustion chamber and creating more power as a result.

It does, I put one of Chucks cams in my motor the year before I had him rebuild it. I was able to run less boost to run my clutching and my motor wanted more fuel.
