Lets talk beacon prices

Ive got a bca tracker the wife is starting to go on rides where they are a necessity and I'm seeing a few rides in the future where it will be just her and i. Ive always rode with the guys who had beacons and the equipment to do whats necessary when or if the tools are needed. So I'm thinking staying with the same kind of beacon for her, can someone suggest the best and cheapest place to get one? Also I wouldn't be objective of buying a complete package shovel beacon probe and pack but where can i find such a deal that I will be overjoyed at purchasing?

The best deal I found was on avalanchetools.com. They have a deal where you buy a beacon and get a free shovel or probe. The beacon price is 289.00 which seems about the same everywhere for the BCA. They are very helpful there too. I got two one with the shovel and one with the probe. Both are very good products. Especially for free!!!

It's getting a little late in the year but theres been some good deals on Bca's in the Swapmeet. If you don't mind used you should be able to find one for $200.

I have a friend that has one for sale, $150 an there is nothing wrong with it.

One thing that tends to be overlooked is experience with your gear.
Make sure and get both you and your S.O. not only DIALED with the beacons, but take an Avi 1 course.....or at the very least, read a book like Snow Sense.

Thanks everyone for your orders. Our thanksgiving special on beacons ends tomorrow (Dec 1). After that, there will be no discounting of the price again the rest of the year. BCA allows us one time per year that we can discount the price of the beacon.

I have a n Ortovox M2 that was used only last season. I have the box, instructions, etc. I would be willing to let it go for $150. I want the new Ortovox S1.

Plenty of good deals out there. If I can make one suggestion, if you get the package deal, avoid plastic shovels and cheap probes. There is a difference in quality.
Just my opinion.

why is the ortovox so much more $ than the BCA ?

3 antenas instead of 2. 65 meter range instead of 25-30m. The BCA was developed about 11 years ago. The D3 about 4 years ago. Just newer and more advanced.
