Looks like I'm gonna be goin to school in lethbridge this winter.
Just lookin to see how many people from lethbridge commute to go riding?

This area is somewhat new to me and ive never been riding around there before. Im just lookin to see what are the best area's to go ridin around are? As far as my plans go it seems like the best closest riding is crowsnest pass, elkford, fernie areas. I hope to be able to tag along with some guys and learn the area this winter and get some good riding in. Im used to the Kakwa area up north and sure will miss it, i sure hope down south can compare ;)

Give me a call and we'll go. 403-308-4446, ask for Trever. Usually out riding once a week when the snow is good! I live in Coaldale, just east of Lethbridge and have lots of buddies that go too. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the area down here.

i'm from lethbridge and i'm going to try to ride 60+ days this winter. ride fernie area a lot and always trying to find new spots. pm me when the snow starts flying.

My brother, father in Law and I ride fernie and revy. I live in Lethbridge also, and am always looking for people to ride with. Give me a shout when you go. The same goes for anyone else, if you are looking for someone to ride with, send me a message.

Thank Cat, sounds good! We should try and get a bunch of guys together for a "Lethbridge and area" ride this season some place? I think there are quite a few of us.

Do any of you Lethbridge guys ride around Castle? How does the riding there differ to Fernie? I think its a little closer as far as driving goes than Fernie is (maybe by a half hour) Is the drive to Castle easier than the last 30km on the Corbin road on the way to the way to the Fernie staging area?

I am originally from Lethbridge and skied both castle and Fernie ALOT and know that generally Fernie gets alot more snow than castle - typically its either snowing at one or the other, temperatures are usually completely different (Fernie being not as cold)

I think Lethbridge is better situated than Calgary for sledding (ride area's, drive time, etc...)

Have you guys ever ridin Skyland in Montana? Its about a 2.5 hour drive and has unreal and endless ride area with access directly off the highway.

castle area is really great when there is a lot of snow but it seems to get less snow than fernie area. crowsnest area can also be good if you know where to go.

never rode montana area before, is it a hassle crossing the border with all the sleds??

Crowsnest is no good either except maybe one or two days a year, wouldn't waste your time comin down here. Then again depends what you ride and where your willing to go.

Oh, yea. Ride Castle several times a year. Very rugged area and some awesome spots if you know where to go. Your right on the temps, Castle is usually colder than Fernie and there is a lot more wind at Castle too. As far as the drive goes, we unload right at the ski hill parking lot and ride in. It's only about a 6km ride back to middle Kootenay Pass. There is a way that you can connect from Castle to the wrangler's cabin at Morrisey, but I haven't had the chance to do that yet...mabye this year!

there's a lot of places to go hid and play down in the pass, on either side of border, just don't be afraid to do a little xploring. and you can't beat the all you can eat buffet at pure country, so you can have a full stomach sleepy time drive back to calgary. wink, wink, you lurkers know what i'm talking about.

No seriously its the ****s down here the trails are always rough from so many ppl being here and the powder is always tracked up from everyone from the city. A good guide for the pass area will run you about $300 a day, and he doesn't help lift your stuck sled outta the 12ft deep snow, drinks beer while you do the work.

joegoo, you're absolutely right, and the trail in is so wupped out, it looks like the track on final heat of a 3 day snocross in duluth on the season opener. lol

If you want to go riding in the south this winter, fire me a PM with your #, I ride there the odd time ;) and am from southern BC originally, I might know some good areas down that way.....

Elkford BC

I just moved to Elkford last January, got in a few rides but was mostly working, dont know the area very well yet, hopefully I will get out more this year. we should get a bunch of us together and go find/learn some good, challenging areas around here to ride. send me an email or pm if interested.

***CANT WAIT FOR THE SNOW!!***

As for riding castle, it is a hit or miss thing. If you hit it right it's damn good, but when the wind blows it sucks real bad, on the hinde site, at least you will get fresh tracks every time :)
Give a holler if anybody wants to go to the hills,
I'M GAME:beer;

Where abouts is this skyland you speak of? We will go down to Seeley Lake MT at least once a year, then up to Lolo MT, by Missoula
