Left side impact with aspen. Now track vibration.

I was sidehilling today and got a little too close to a big aspen while carrying some speed. Spun the left controls around, the primary burned through the outer plastic a bit, and the radiator has been pushed to the right about 1/2".

Definitely tweaked the subframe, the rear portion of upper a-arm is much closer to the spring on the left side than the right but the sled seems to ride, steer and turn fine.

The weirdness is this vibration I'm getting when doing left turns in deep powder. I can feel it through the left running board. Right turns are buttery smooth.

The entire running board slid along the tree as there is tree ground into the edge of the running board, but I can't remember if it was under power or not, it's all this oh sh!t I'm gonna hit that tree kind-of a blur.

I don't know if I bent something rearward or not. I ran the machine with the side cover off to make sure the primary wasn't wobbling which it didn't seem to be. I'm a little freaked out here as I don't want to break down and would like some ideas on what to check.

I don't think it was doing this pre-impact but you know how the paranoia starts once you've wrecked hard and start feeling/noticing/making up everything...plus as wide as the running boards are on the Nytro I don't see how it could have hit anything under the tunnel.

I haven't checked track alignment other than to look at the adjusters and they seemed to be centered in the windows that were visible.

I'm going to try to rearrange the garage to get her inside and thawed out tonight.

in the garage

I pulled the sled into the garage, lots and lots of ice in the tunnel, I'm guessing maybe some of what I was feeling was ice hitting the track, who knows. Still need to move the radiator back into place. Belt guard was all bent downward toward the secondary.

I'll look into it more tomorrow when it has all melted off.

Happy new year!

sled vibration = bad belt. i bet your belt was damaged or smoked. The damage may not be visible. Just change it out to know for sure.

yep

You were right, changed out the belt and all is back to normal...

The belt was the original with 1100 miles on it, and it had some fraying, including one 4" thread I found in the belly pan.

Buttery smooth riding again.

Thanks!
