Hi.
I got a cheap but cool looking LED taillight that I wanted to mount on my RMK, I found out quickly that I needed a DC converter to make this work since the sled produce AC, so I ordered one from a local company who delivered SLP's converter. Problem is now that I got power back to the light but no light in the lamp(???) I've tested the light it self on a 12v battery and it works, I've got 13,4v in the outlet to the taillight, but no reaction in the lamp. Could it be that I need a SLP light to work with the SLP converter? Isn't a AC to DC converter all the same non regarding the manufacturer??:face-icon-small-con

You need a special LEd light to work on the CFI systems. If you check your stock tail light you will notice it's not like a normal system.

The cfi has 1 positve and 2 grounds. Its reversed from a normal system.

You shure about this? I got three wires going back, one is ground, one gives constantly 13,4v and the last varies from 4,6 to 13,4 depending if the brake leaver is in or out.

So you have tested the leds on a 12v battery and they worked? Checked the volts on the battery. You said that you are getting 13.4 volts on the sleds tail lights?

So I have used leds on rc airplanes and other stuff and they are very sensitive to voltage. If your battery that you are testing them on is actually around 11 volt and the voltage on the sleds tail light is 13.4 that is enough difference to cause them not to work. You are probably going to have to add a resistor to the led to step the voltage down in order to make them work. I would suspect that the voltage is off is why they are not working.

GOT IT!! Two grounds right? After a quick fix with a soldering gun I rewired the lamp and got it to work:face-icon-small-hap
No extra load on the system, no error codes or anything....just a coooool glow from the LED lamp....schweeeeet
