led tail light isnt working properly WITH cfi adapter

I installed an led tail light and used the led cfi adapter from hi-perf eng. , the brake light function works but not very well. It barely gets brighter than the running light and the brake light indicator is always on on the mfd cluster. It looks to me like the running light function is actually too bright which makes it look like the brake light barely comes on. And the brake indicator dims when I hit the brake. Anybody have experience with this problem???

Tried adding a resistor to the12v+ before the cfi led adapter. No help. I know supplying too much juice to leds can cause backfeed problems which is why I tried the resisstor but it didn't help.

The directions that came with the adapter say that it converts the tail/brakelight feed to operate with double hot feeds instead of double grounds. But like I said the brake light and taillight function both work. But the brake light is barely noticable. And the tail light seems extremely bright, I think the tail light function should be dimmer which would make the brake light more noticable.

try switching the wires around. Maybe you are running the brake light all the time and the tail light when you hit the brakes.

i swippy swapped all the wires around, and nothing helped! light only worked in one wiring configuration!

did you switch them before or after the converter? Should be able to switch the wire feeding the brake light and the running light after the converter.

i tried switching the wires before AND after the converter

won't work before but should after, if you just switch the wire that is running the power to the tail light side with the wire that supplies power when you hit the brakes.

There should be no reason that it would not still work if you switched the two hot wires and don't touch the ground wire. I am going to have to go look over biggdawgs wiring diagram again and see if I can figure anything out on this.

thats my plan for tomorrow! thanks Z maybe everything is working fine and this led just sucks! but its super bright on tail light and barely brighter on stop

Hook it to a 12 volt battery and check it and you can find out.

I am probably going to put an LED on mine too. I'm thinking the Pro RMK one.
