Leave in a week for Island Park, Hows it looking?

Hey Just like my title says leaving in a week for IP, hows the snow looking in a few locations like Jefferson, Black Canyon, etc? Super excited to get out there!

Dan

IP?

I don't know about black canyon, but rode west of Jefferson yesterday and I wont be back until we get some storms. Good riding is spoty. get as high as you can and you will find some. I live in Idaho Falls and can chose which way to go to ride in all directions. At this time Wyoming is my best bet.

Damn, is there decent riding? We are staying at the Village resort is there anything with in a couple of hours to drive to that has pretty good snow?

I am going riding tomorrow and some in the group wanted to go to I.P. Someone claimed they got some new snow, but I don't know. Some of us bailed out on the I.P. ride for new snow in WY. Although, I am going Saturday up snowy creek, near I.P., on a family ride I can report after that..... Just got a unofficial report of someone getting buried in sheep creek in a avi. Be careful snow is crazy unpredictable this year around here. Im betting it slid right to the dirt!!!

I rode the Big Springs/North Blacks Canyon area with 500 of my new best friends yesterday. Trails were good, was able to get off without sled damage. Even the difficult to reach sports are way tracked up with snow depths in the 3 to 4 feet range. Island Park needs a lot more snow and a lot less people. I had not ridden this area for several years and now I remember why.

Good grief mold.
You went there during some of the busiest time of the year. Go during a non holiday weekday and you can practically have the place to yourself

Hopefully the Eastern Highlands will get some snow soon and I will be able to ride all day and never see a person or a track.

FROM YESTERDAY...

6 of us spent the day riding in Island Park today.
We parked just at the top of Ashton Hill and rode out on S. Antelope Flat Road to Sagebrush Spring Reservoir.

Much to our surprise it was UNTRACKED and had a solid 9 inches of "fresh" powder! Most of the meadows all along Antelope Flat Road were also untracked and wide open. Once back into the woods, there was 12 inches of fresh clean "sparkling" snow pretty much everywhere.

Came back to the parking lot, crossed highway 20 and then rode to Mesa Falls. And again was just amazed at how good the snow was and how almost none of it had been tracked.

Turned out to be a OUTSTANDING day's ride!

First time I have ever run my Trail Tank all the way to Empty just playing in the snow!!:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap
