Leaning towards the M1000 but what is the durability and fuel range

Hey guys I'm leaning towards the M1000 but what is the durability. I've found a ton of 07's, 08's, and even 09's for under $10,000. Some of the 07's and 08's are even around 7 brand new but what is the durability of all these years? If I buy something I really dont want it to blow up on me even if there is a warrenty. I've heard of some crank problems with these and was wondering if they have cleared it up. Also how far can you go on a tank of gas with your 1000. My buddy had a 07 M8 and he could consistantly get around 100 miles out of a tank. It is usually 20 plus miles to our play areas and I hate carrying gas so fuel range is also important to me.

The M1000 burns a lot more gas than the M8 definately a downfall but it rips when set up right, I get about 80-90mi range on my M8 I'd say my buddy gets like 60 on his M1000- get used to packing a gas can. I carry a 2.5 gallon can on my m8 to assure my trip back to the trailer. Once I get to where we ride I put it in a tree well and fuel it up before the journey home.

Durability

Chassis is very solid and strong
-only things to really watch, diamond drive

Reliability
-Instock form they are pretty good. If you ride sleds you know stuff happens. So thinking you will never have a problem is a hugh mistake. It happens. But over all pretty darn good.
-Crank issues. IMO no more than any other brand. And I would be bet less bottom end problems then most. Cat builds a very solid bottom end.
-If you start adding air box mods, pipes, cans, Y pipes etc. You need to watch the EGT's. They will burn down if you don't watch it. But if you pay attention and do it right you will have a sled you can do some simple mods to and get pretty good HP numbers.

Fuel Economy
-IMO the only way you are going to get more then 70 miles on a tank is if you tow it in. :). Depending on your riding style and snow conditions you will get an average of 40-60miles from a tank. Last time I filled up I got 6.6 miles/gallon.

Thunder

I have gotten about the same fuel economy on my M1000 as I did on my old M7. If you have 20 miles of road each way, dont ride it wide open and you will save a ton of fuel. To make the same speed on the road the 1000 turns 5k rpm when the 7 turned 6k.

On the trails you can get 70 to 80 on a tank ,when i go up with family most trail riding and you go easy np getting that powder hill climb down to 60 or so but they are really reliable had no issues nice to have 165+ hp at your thumb. Last time I trailed with my kids we put in a 75 mile ride I had 2 gallons left in tank when i refueled. But like ppl say depends how you ride ,good luck and have fun.
