Lean or not

I have a M-7 that had been moded with a big bore M-8 by Cat dealer as a demo sled I had to rebuild top end and converted back to completely stock M-7 except for larger air intake and reflashed ECU markings on ecu are TTIMP1 if this means any thing to an Arctic Cat gue rue. I was told by dealer this was a race ecu flash.
Now the question to you guys is, am I running to lean or not. I put new spark plugs in ran sled about 40 miles fairly hard pulled plugs and not much color change in porcelain, but Y pipe seamed oily not dry. Porcelain is not tan, but with synthetic oils I thought this may not be correct way to check. I run Blue marble oil if this makes a differance. :face-icon-small-con Thanks for input

Any help !! I have looked under spark plug reading and one post by Racinstation was posted about reading the " wet line " in the Y pipe and 2" into main pipe, instead of trusting plugs or piston wash. Not sure Exactly what he ment. Any one that can elaborate?

I would contact the dealer that set it up. only way your going to know for sure. best way to check the plugs is to make a hard pull, 10-12 seconds wot, then hit the kill switch right away and pull the plugs. If there is any grey or white its lean, the tip should be brown.

It took my sled a few rides to get a good plug reading with new plugs. the oil line is referring to when you pull off the single main pipe it should have a distinguishable oil trace inside a few inches. which usually clears up from being glossy oil to a flat black deposit the further down. It is a good indication of what is going on heat wise. I highly doubt your running leaner when cutting back in displacement. especially if its stock pipe, head etc. What about trying some old but good used plugs. some that have dark deposits to check and do a before and after. also you can unplug the ethanol connector near the ecu which will add fuel to the mapping until you confirm what is going on.

Thanks for your replys. I have contacted dealer but don't always get good solid answers,"long story". This has been a bad sled since day one IMO. This year is the best its run, I was just concerned about the spark plug colors. I will try the wot test. I do have my wifes M-7 that I can try her ecu also this weekend, her sled has always ran better.

check her ecu and make sure it maches ther is 3 differnt one and you need the corect injectors for the corisponding ecu
you will have a square circle or tryangel on the top

buy some EGT's and then run it and see. and if the EGT says its hot, then run it at that degree for a steady long pull and hit the kill switch and check the plugs

"Akwakely" Thanks for info. I knew one ecu had a square and other was a circle. Little did I know that they are matched to injectors. I looked and the injectors do have corresponding markings. Dealer told me I could swap ecu's but failed to tell me this small detail.:face-icon-small-dis Thanks again
