Leak down test on 4 stroke

Got a question for mechanics that are smarter than me. Most four strokes had a decompression lever on the cam gear that opens one of the valves during starting. A weight disables the lever when running, so could a guy disable it when checking valves to do a normal compression check. I have a leak down gauge just like the compression tester better. Thank you. Differential pressure gauge setup works the best ,with a two gauge calibrated manifold you can see even the slightest psi change .

Compression test is kinda of a thing of the past. Just do a leak down. If you test compression and it's low you have to do a leak down to see where it's going. Just do leak down and kill 2 birds with one stone.
