LBZ Duramax Power Programer

Which Power Programer (Edge, Bully Dog, Banks, ect) would you guys recommend getting? I am new to the diesel world and just got a 06.5 LBZ Classic 2500 crew cab with around 95k miles. It had a programer on it, I found an Edge manual in the glove box and pyrometer in the exhaust manifold. It has 295-75 R20 tires on it, and I know that my speedo is off by at least 7mph. Hand calculating the MPG without adjusting for my speedo off, I get around 14mpg. I plan on towing a 27' enclosed steel trailer, soon as I find one, and our trips around 170mi round trip to go riding.

I would like to correct my speedo and get a little more mpg. Extra power would be nice, but this thing has plenty for now, and I would rather not tear stuff up. Locally the shop around Twin Falls ID is suggesting an Edge Juice with Attitude, with the CTS. What would you guys suggest?

I just put the Edge evolution programer and monitor in mine and love it! But the only problem is it doesnt have the egr delete setting on it... those were only the race versions of the edge which they discontinued. Now i have to do the fingerstick when blocking the egr. If i had to do it again i would either buy the PPE Excellerator programmer or EFI Live(tuned by someone) with a CTS monitor. That way u dont have to do the fingerstick.... but i like my edge. (Went with the evolution cause i had heard they had some problems with the juice+attitude programs, hearsay though)

I have an Edge Evolution programmer on my 2006 LBZ. I also did a 4" MBRP exhaust and it is a perfect combo. On level 3 this truck rips! On level 4 I was able to get a 0-60 in 5.83. That is quick for that size of truck with such limited mods! I will sell you my programmer if you are interested. The only reason I'm selling it is that I traded my truck in on a new Denali HD and the programmer doesn't work on the new LML motors. I have the box, manual and EGT gauge that has never been used. This will add up to 100HP! Truck responds like no other diesel I've ever been in! You can also program in your tire size and make your gauges accurate. Install is very simple and you can program the truck to stock if you need to. Let me know if you are interested.

I was thinking about doing the EFI Live, but the nearest programing place is over 130miles away, and it costs around $1000 to do. Or I could send the PCM to them, but then I'm out of a truck for a week or so. Then I would still need to get the CTS monitor. I don't know maybe after sled season when I got some more money, I could do that....

What were you wanting to get out of your Edge Evolution? Thats the same one that was installed in this truck originally.

i have an 07 classic with ppe standard, egr delete, pcv reroute, 4" magnaflow exhaust, inline electric fuel pump, and ppe fuel rail shim. thing runs awesome. pull a 28 ft enclosed snowmobilw trailer 600miles to mountains. stock got 7.5 mpg. after 13mpg. also had it dynoed made 440hp and 880ft on 3th setting on ppe. wont run 4th stock tranny wont handle it.

If you want the best do EFI live or 2nd best ppe.

nice thing about these two is the fact that some of the codes you will get if you put exhaust on or egr delete is that they eliminate the codes no need for finger stick as stated above.

also do the exhaust 2nd best thing i did way better throttle response. also go to http://www.pacificp.com/ and do their airbox mod cheap and efficient.

Whatever you do don't get any efi live tuning from custom auto out of Idaho Falls idaho or from dmitri milliard. I got totally screwed on the tuning had to pull my truck home on the trailer. Once i got it tuned from underground diesel out of las vegas I found out the tranny that the idaho falls guys did was junks also. ATS has a programmer that is the same as a ppe but cheaper. You can also send your ecm to get it prorammed it is easy to take out and put back in. IF you do want efi live try underground diesel performance out of las vegas they have pre tuned ecm's and will swap you for your stock one

Great guy and there is nothing even close to EFI Live! You wont regret it! My 07.5 LMM had the Edge Juice w/ Attitude when I bought it and the first thing I did was trade it for the Edge Insight and bought EFI Live from Nick. Then straight piped with 5" Turbo-back. Wish I would have had it on my 03. The awesome part is they now have EFI Live in a hand-held Standalone Programming And Diagnostic device. Way cool especially when you order it with DSP-5. You get 5 Custom tunes on a 5 position switch thats even lockable. Seriously check em out!!!
