great place. only complaint i have is that i couldnt hook up my ps2 to the tv in the room. so we got to take it up to the bar and place guitar hero up there all night:D riding is great wen they have good snow. i highly recomend lava mountain over togwottee because of prices.
good luck!

also another thing i remember from last year is that one of the ladies (cant remember her name) printed off a weather report every morning and a radar for you to check out where to ride that day.

if you can get enough guys stay in their cabin, i think we had 13 guys in one cabin and still had room to spare, very cheap way to do it, we liked it because you have trail access and gasoline at the same spot. oh, and a bar at night as well which usually consists of some real mountain men and other sledders.

I have never stayed at Lava Mountain Lodge but we have ridden up there from the LineShack. Food was excellent, seemed like a nice place.

thanks for all the info guys we booked the house for the second week in january. we usually stay on the dubois side at lineshack this is the first year we are trying something diffrent so i will let you know what i think when i get back. we have been going out in this area for quite a few years we get auround pretty good but i think we are going to look for a local guide to take us out to some new areas so if anyone on here is a guide or a local and could use a couple extra bucks or just wants to be nice and
show us a couple new areas just let me know who and when you are available
!!!
thanks guys

im interested in this lodge too. is there good riding within a few miles of the lodge? i liked tog. mountain lodge because there was great riding within 5 miles. is lava lodge like this or do you have to burn half a tank to get to good snow?

I think you gotta go a bit further at Lava. I wanna say you prolly got to run maybe 10 miles before it starts to open up... I remember there being a good stretch coming in and leaving lava after lunch, that was pretty thick woods but dont hold me to...
Seems like lava and tog were about 30 some miles apart via trails as well.

do they have rental sled there or nearby? i have a couple friends coming and don't have mountain sleds.

Been there couple times, nice place, good food, and good service. the only thing is, when we were there we kept overheating our sleds getting out of there on the trails. ive heard of some other people doing the same, so now we stay there and trailor up the hill aways.

Great Place to Stay!

Lava Mountain Lodge has lodge rooms, a group cabin and new rustic cabins that sleep 4. They also have gas, a general store with some snowmobile belts and plugs, restaurant, bar and a liquor store. They are located off of the CD trail on the PB. New menu this year, nothing over $20. Really good food and great atmosphere. They're helpful if your having sled issues and try to get you back out on the trail. Snow can be found right out your door. Moose too! Check them out at www.lavamountainlodge.com for more info.
