Late to the party with 1st ride report....

Got out on the Pro for the first time yesterday. Not the best conditions....heavy fog, 6" heavy/wet-ish fresh snow with a few feet of base, mostly road/trail riding and poaching the sides a bit. Still good to be up in the mountains tho! Anyway here is what I noticed so far on the new Pro 163, coming from a good running 07 Doo 800R 159,

- It's noticeably light....either while riding it, or even just lifting it to move it around. 3 buddys riding with me kept picking up the front and rear ends and couldn't believe how light it felt.
- Started 1st pull everytime...not that it bothered me, but it was really nice not to have to choke, or hold the throttle while starting.
- Stock can has enough rumble to it to drown out the usual engine and clutch noises, which is nice if you decide to keep it for awhile.
- Throttle pull is light and linear.
- Bars and seat where comfortable for me with minor adjustments needed. Bars needed to be rotated I little back toward the rider I think. I'm about 6'2"
- Suspension soaks up the bumps very well....I need to crank the springs up a bit for my 210lbs, as I easily bottomed it out doubling-up the whoops on the trail.
- Pushed through corners....part of it was the snow conditions, as others said they were having the same problem with Doos and Cats yesterday. Another part of it may be the rear suspension being set too soft for my weight. Room for improvement with easy adjustments I think.
- Running boards cleared out soooo good compared to my Rev, literally night and day.
- Throttle response is wicked, even while still on break-in chip and with double oil. Between the throttle response and fast-reacting clutch, the sled had a very direct feel to it. Hit the throttle, it goes....at any RPM. This got better throughout the day.
- Can't really comment on clutching or power at the limit....didn't have the chance for any climb long enough to comment on. I think it will be impressive as hell tho....the whole thing just seems to float very well.
- Throttle and clutching is super easy to modulate....poo track seemed to have a ton of traction and float in the weird snow conditions. Smooth takeoffs with no trenching everytime....
- Guage cluster works well and easy to use.
- 123-125 degrees all day.
- First time I've had a temp guage....definetly noticed the "cold shot" deal that the "gizmo" is solving....interesting.
-Lays over way easy....gonna be an adjustment from my Rev for sure. First couple times I was laying on my arse in the snow from pulling too hard haha

Overall had a ton of fun and very impressed. It really is a stock sled with a bunch of stuff that would usually be aftermarket goodies. It is a very impressive unit to ride so far....just need to get it into the great wide open!

thanks for the review, i'm jealous of everyone that has gotten to ride theirs, mine is still sitting in the shop waiting to be ridden.

Cool report. The NegativeNancys call that "tippy"...I call it "responsive". LOL

that's funny. responsive.

in the schooled video brett rasmussen says "now just turn the handle bars that direction and the sled will lean right over for you" up until i seen that video i called it rolling, but he calles it leaning over for you.

nice report

I didn't like mine it never got stuck so I didn't get my exercise in getting it unstuck, it climbed everything I pointed it at. the whoops felt to smooth. turned on a dime and left change. and after 80 miles I still had 1/4 tank of fuel left. oh ya and when I got home I wasn't beat.
oh and I couldn't stop smiling all day long.

well I guess those are good things. LOL

Weird that sounds almost exactly like the problems mine had....well minus the stuck, I over-road it quite a bit ended up in some odd situations a few times.......

I love my Pro RMK, it is the best sled I have ever owned hands down. It really is a stock 'mod' sled. I have no complaints and I have no usual wish list of goodies for this sled. It is awesome just the way it is. It was unstoppable until I nearly flipped over backwards in a steep chute.
